I tried to get comcast set up at a place I just bought. I want cable, phone & net. One guy answered the phone, asked my zip code, ( not a comcast guy ) I got transferred to another guy for sales. Not a comcast guy. Fine. Got all my info, transferred to Luis, from Mexico, for installation. Not a comcast guy. Luis told me that they didn't service my area. I know somebody a 1/4 mile away that has comcast, and I am sure that their line runs about 100 ft from the back of my property, but on a different road. Luis couldn't help. OK, now have to cancel the whole transaction. Get transferred to a Quality control company? Not a comcast guy. He transfers me to a company that supplies the routers. Not a comcast guy. Then, I tell that guy my issue, he transfers me to another guy, who takes about 15 minutes to cancel the transaction. So I spent about 1 hour on the phone, talked to 6 people, and never talked to a comcast employee. Maybe I am goofy, but I think this is screwed up.

Wow, I'm not a comcast guy either, but you could probably guess that:laughing:

If I were you I'd be looking somewhere else. I see your in Howell which isn't too far from me. I have Charter internet and DirecTV for our tv. I had Charter for the tv for a while but DirecTV was offering some good offers and a friend who had it said that I just had to get it. Looking back the switch probably wasn't as important as I thought it was. I would look at Charter though. I'm not too far and they were always right around the cheapest and offered me service where i was and Comcast didn't. Might want to try them:thumbsup:

What frustrates me is the Luis could tell me that they couldn't hook me up, but the sales guys couldn't?

The fact that they wouldn't direct you to a local representative or say we will get something worked out for you would make me go somewhere else on the spot.

I'm a Comcast customer and I'm definitely not a Comcast guy.
I just give them money and listen to their excuses. Up until 6 months ago they were the only game in town, but now that verizon has their fiber optic underground installed (fios) things are a little different. They are starting to pay attention, they even credited my account for missing an appointment....
Well they have missed more than the have met.
In my opinion they truly don't care about your satisfaction. They must have more customers than they need.
When they say " we will be out Tuesday between 3 & 6" I say there is no way I'm going to waste my time comming home early so your punk doesn't show. You be here Saturday and I'm not paying until it's fixed.
I hate Comcast

That's why it's called the Comcastic experience!

On the other hand, Comcast? this sounds more like ATT, on the occasions the call isn't dropped.
Oh I'm not the Comcast Guy either, but I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express :D

I have Comcast (now called XFINITY). My dealing to this date have always been with someone from their Livonia office. Things have gotten much better in recent years. But the rates have gone up. The alternatives we have in this area are them or Frontier. Not a good option. The number I use for them is 888-266-2278. Push the buttons for customer service instead of sales. Good Luck.

I spent a bunch of time talking to the service folks. They said they will have it looked at by the service folks. They will get back to me by email within 14 business days. I guess the only thing is to call the phone company and get a DSL line and phone, and maybe direct tv for a sat tv connection. Because there are few homes on this street, they will not run a cable down it.

We got one of the first Fiber Optic cables in Oakland county. Why I do not know. We live on a rural road. With houses spread out. Maybe it was a test area or they needed to pass my place to get at the big dollar homes down the road. Glad you were able to talk to someone. Maybe they will expand to your area.

As I read the OP, I kept hearing "Hello this is Peggy" :D :D

Sorry.

I dont work for Comcast, but have had their data connection for 6 years or so. The guy installing my electrical to the new pole barn managed to break the cable. They came out the next day and repaired the line. So far I've been pleased, once I go it hooked up. I was kind of in the same situation as you, told they could hook me up.. Till I talked to a comcast installer who came out and checked things out for me. He made a few calls and a week later I was all hooked up. The trick will be getting an installer out there.
If you have the option of U-verse from ATT I'd check that out as well.

I live on the edge of technology. No cable. No DSL. Satellite is available sometime - but I let Hughes go about a year ago. I am the local IT pro. I advise folks to go wireless with a data card. Choose your poision - sprint, verizon, tmobile - but I tend to stay away from AT&T. The nearest tower is 11 miles away and we have plenty of dead zones. My latest find is a Wilson cell phone signal booster. Improves the quality of cell phone calls and data transfer. Though not without tribulation this setup generally works well and you can take it with you.

HTC EVO's (smart phones) can be setup with a data package that connects you computer to the internet through the phone. You won't download any movies but you can read tractorbynet and get your email.
