For anyone who is shaking their head, on what to do,and I'm I covered or not and do I have enough coverage? here is an answer, Call Amica Insurance at 1-800-42-Amica they are in every state and ask for Underwriting, they are number one, Home, Auto, and Tractor! take 15 mins. and learn what is covered and what isn't. Think for some of you who can have a flood, possible your house wouldn't be covered however your tractor would be. :confused2:

I went with the seperate policy for the life of my loan. It wasn't too expensive and it will cover the machine on the road and off my property. Seemed worth it to me.

I have Amica for home and car insurance. They would not insure an unregistered tractor for liability on public roads. It is covered under my homeowners while on my property.

Thats the differance with the policys, if you don't leave your property, home owner policy will cover the machine, however if you take the machine to a friends home, home owners will not cover it.

So if your machine ever leaves your property you NEED a seperate policy, because your homeowners thinks you are out making money with the machine.

Here is the Texas/State Farm answer, direct from the company:
"Dear ,
Your Homeowner policy provides coverage for your tractor on the homeowner policy in the same way it would cover a riding lawn mower as long as it is used solely to service your insured location. It is covered on your premises only, personal use only, any loss to it is subject to regular Homeowner deductible ($yyyy for wind and hail losses and $xxxx for all other covered losses) and covered for the same perils as the Homeowner policy provides. There are exclusions if it is used for farm or business or off premises.
Thanks,
"
Ok, my take is that I am fine. But, due to possible insurance company/state variations, each person has to get a clear, unambiguous statement from your insurance underwriter.
hope this helps!

What if you own more than one property? I have a seperate policy with StateFarm and I was told by them it had to housed at my house but sometimes I leave it on my other property. I am not a Farmer well maybe a Tree Farmer. Maybe I should check on a Farm Owners Policy.

In Connecticut you can't have two insurance companys with binding coverage, on any vehicle, home or tractor, its covered by home owner's or by let's call tractor insurance company. so if you have a loss for let's say 10,000.00 you can't collect from both insurance carriers, and there is no added liability, its one company or the other not both, I would think that would be in alot of states, you tink you have all this coverage frm both abd you don't, but insurance company don't tell you because you should know that !!!, remember you are dealing with insurance companys the riches companys in all the world !!!

I am sorry ... I did not mean two policies. However I have seperate insurance for my tractors and certain equipment, my rented ground is not on my homeowners policy ... sooooo ... if my tractor and baler catch fire on rented ground I am good....IMO ... for the small amount charged for the seperate coverage it would be absolutly foolish not to have it ... beside my homeowners has a $1000 deduct and my tractors and equip have $250 deduct.

Ok That sound like a great idea.

I called Statefarm today and had them double check and they said it would be covered off premise. So I guess I am ok. But just homeowners would not cover off sight.
