I have a new "slant" on this subject.
I have a
B2710 (that I touch-up with Kubota orange regularly)with a Kubota front mount snow blower (that I have second thoughts about).
The hydraulic chute rotator worm gear shaft broke as a result of inadequate design. I purchased it new in 1999 and it failed early this winter. I have 200 trouble-free hours on the tractor, with about 15% of that using the snow blower. A year or so after I bought mine, they completely changed the design of the unit due to mechanical problems such as mine.
My dealer and I have completely documented the reason for the shaft's failure to Kubota, and I have received no response from them at all.
If this failure was from neglect or mis-use, I would certainly be obligated to pay for the repair. But the truth of the matter is a replacement worm gear will simply break again in a few winters because of the excessive speed and power of the hydrauli motor that turns the worm gear.
I have good reason to keep the "injured" snow blower (with the three tri-colored bungee cords I now use to manually position the chute) brand spanking new with touch-up Kubota orange, -- so it can be quickly identified as a piece of Kubota equipment that hasn't lived up to its reputation.
My "green tractor" neighbors snicker at my perdicament, but all I can say is "where is Kubota when you need them?
