Tires Does Kubota Have R4 tires for BX2230?

The new Kubota BX2350 has R4 tires as an option. Does anyone know if they have R4's available in the BX2230 tire sizes?

i.e. the Back tire on the BX2350 and BX2230 is the same.

Front tire on BX2350 is: 18x8.50--10
Front tire on BX2230 is: 18x8.50--8

So... Does Kubota have available an R4 in the correct size for the front tires on the BX2230?

I am assuming the --8 means the BX2230 uses an 8" rim, and the --10 on the 2350 means it uses a 10" rim. Does anyone know for sure?

BTW, John Deere has same tire sizes on the 2305 as are on Kubota BX2350, so they have R4's available on it also.

I should add that I have a FEL, tiller, and live on a hill with a brushy ditch at the bottom of my acerage. So, having R4 tires is highly desirable for doing the kind of work I've been using my tractor for. Ag tires would do... But, I consider the R4's better than Ag tires.

My BX2230 came with R4's from the dealer, so I would assume you should be able to get them from your dealer.

If your 2230 came with R4's your dealer must have put them on, the only thing that was available from the factory for my 2230 was turf or R1 Bar tread. I would think the new 10" front wheel still being a 4 lug wheel would fit the older 2200/2230 models. If you buy new tires and wheels from a Kubota dealer make sure you get them through (I think its called) Whole goods my R1's were right around $300 for all 4 tires and wheels.

The 18 in 18x8.50--10 must be the outside diameter then.

I'm going to call my dealer today (or tomorrow) and get R4's!!

Just confirmed with my Kubota dealer that he can do R4's on BX2230's. The front rims have to be changed out.

The only gotcha is that the R4's will rub on the front of your mower deck if you turn as tight as possible with the tractor. Certainly not a big deal to me.

R4's take about 2-4weeks to get in if they order them with new rims.

You are right… 18x8.50-10 is 18” diameter, 8 ½” width on a 10” rim. KennyV.

Thanks. My dealer tried the 2350's R4's on a 2230 and they work. However with a 60" mower deck he said I'll have to watch out. The front tire lugs will rub on the mower deck if you try to turn really tight.

Not an issue for me since some of the spots around my house are steep enought that if I tried to turn that tight the tractor would probably roll.

I'll have to check this out. My dealer offered to install the R4 tires instead of the turf tires for free.

I too have lots of hills around my house, but I also have areas where tight turning with the mower deck will save me lots of time coming back to mow areas I missed on the turn. Had I known about this issue, I might have stuck with the Turf tires. I will probably leave things as they are with the R4 tires, and if its an issue, let him know.

If the overall tire is taller, the rolling dimension is greater: Anyone concerned that the advance gear ratio of the front wheels comparative to the real wheels will be disturbed when locked in AWD?
(I believe the front wheels are designed to turn slightly faster when in AWD to reduce corner hopping and turf damage)
