Tractor
Kubota L2800HST
Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a 28 - 30 hp tractor with HST and possibly a loader. Do any of the Mahindra machines in this HP range compare to the NH TC30 or Kubota L2800 in price? I have quotes for both tractors at $12,500. Right now, I'm leaning toward the L2800, but I want to keep my options open. I don't really want to go over $15,500 for tractor and loader. What does a 2815 or 3015 run? Is the 3015 HST being discontinued?

Right now I have a 26 HP Yanmar that is rated 22 PTO HP. I want to upgrade from those numbers and get somthing a little bigger, so the 2615 HST would be a downgrade for me as far as PTO HP goes.

Thanks.

What do you want to compare? Weight? Physical size? Horsepower? Capacities at the 3pt or FEL? Depending on what tasks you need to do, the Mahindra 3015 could be a far better, or a far worse tractor for your needs.

I don't think you are gaining that much PTO HP by going to an L2800. Especially, if you are looking at HST.

If you look at the Mahindra web site you can browse by Horsepower range:

http://www.mahindrausa.com

They have the newer 2815 and 3215 models which have a little more HP, newer styling and a better turning radius.

I know when I was shopping that I was also looking at TC30 and L2800 but ultimately settled on the 2615 for numerous reasons.

You need to test drive them all and see which one feels right to you.

I've already viewed the specs on all tractors mentioned. The 2615 will meet my "needs", but I "want" a 28 - 30 HP HST just to give me a little buffer. All of the tractors mentioned will meet my needs - 85% mowing. All capacities, weight, hp,etc, etc will meet my needs. I'm just wondering if Mahindra's prices can compare to the L2800, for example. Is the 3015 being discontinued?

The 3015HST is being discontinued as the premium 2815HST and 3215HST are so close in HP. Interestingly, the 3015HST had a turbo put on it a year or two ago to meet emmisions. It puts out a solid 34HP on our dyno. If you can find a 3015HST, it will be priced similarly to the 2815HST. I'd suggest you go drive one, then drive the TC30/L2800 and see what works best for you. The 3015HST uses the ML110 loader that lifts 1350 lbs at the pins. The 28 and 3215 uses the pedestal mount ML111 that lifts 1410 lbs measured at the pins. If you are a big person, you'll love the new 28 and 3215. Lot's of space in the operators platform.

Just a few weeks back there was a left over 3015 in Science Hill Ky at Valley Farm Equip.
I'd be looking for one of those if I was you. I personally don't see a huge difference and I bet you could get a deal on a 3015.

I use Kubota and New Holland tractors. The L2800 and the TC30 are two of my least favorite tractors. The L2800HST is far better than the L2800 gear. However I think the simple answer is that most of the Mahindra's are going to be better/nicer than either of these tractor models.

Back to my original question - am I to assume I can not get a Mahindra 2815 for $12,500 and with a loader for $15,500? I'm aware some tractors are nicer than others, I just have a set amount I can spend.

Was just quoted 16,200 from a dealer just west of Cleveland, oh. (Born Impelment in Amherst, OH). Mahindra 2815 hst w/loader. They have alot in stock so you can compare. I personally cannot decide on a brand and size. By the way they say that most of the mahindra's are about 3 hp higher than rated when they are put on the dyno.

Yep on the dyno. I dyno'd a 3215 gear at 2.5 hp over rated. The 2015 dynos at 3 hp over rated. The 4110 seems to be right on the rating. The biggest difference is in the discontinued 3015, it puts out a solid 34 hp, just like the 3215 models. I suppose it is better that they rate them conservatively, at least you know you aren't getting shorted. From a dealers perspective, we'd like to see the true (higher) hp stated...people like numbers!

As to a 2815HST with loader for $15,500, that would be up to your local dealer. Currently there is a $400 cash in-lieu rebate plus a $500 customer price reduction. If you are a cash buyer, both would apply. If Born Equipment in Ohio is selling these for $16,200, that is a real bargain. If that doesn't reflect the rebates already, and you can actually get it for $16,200 less $900, you should jump on it. Or take the 0% for 48 months. Can't beat that.
