After looking through a Case brochure recently, it seems like a Case is just a New Holland with red paint. Body style, instrumentation, controls, specs, and attachments all seem to be the same. The only difference might be the engine. The Case is made by a Japanese outfit (can't remember the name and the brochure is all the way at the other end of the house and I'm too lazy to go get it /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif), but the New Holland brochure didn't list the NH engine manufacturer. Also, Case doesn't seem to make a model comparable to the TC30, which is what I'm considering.

There is a Case dealer about 20 minutes away from me, but the New Holland dealer I'm considering is about 2 hours away.

Any info/insight/experiences would be appreciated.

It's pretty much the same as buying a Ford or a Mercury--
Only the grill and headlights are the different!

There are a couple of features that are exclusive to one brand name or the other, such as the SuperSteer option on the New Holland, and the lack of a TC30 equivalent in a Case model.

Check out both your local New Holland dealer and your Case dealer and buy where you feel more comfortable.

If you had posted this in the Case forum, they would tell you that the New Holland is just a Case with blue paint. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Actually, the only thing I have to add to what AndyM said is that I believe in the CUTs Case is calling all these Farmalls. They are marketing tractors using Case, International Harvester, and Farmall all shown in emblems on the same tractor (DX series tractors). The Farmall name gets dropped on larger tractors. Also, Case has some models not duplicated in the NHs that I believe are built in Turkey (I think a couple of the JX models).

Jinman,

Is this true in all cases or should I say all CIH's. The local dealer we have here has CIH only. They don't say Farmall on them. This is in a DX33 that he had on the lot a year ago. That was the last time I was there so it may have changed recently.

Here's a link to the Case website, Murph. All the DXs are now called Farmalls. The new tractors at the dealer I pass every day has all three names on them. I think it says Farmall on the front grill.

Jinman,

I see the website says they are all Farmalls. But did they originally come out that way. It just seems the one I was looking at did not say Farmall on it and I remember discussions here on TBN about the Farmall name coming back? Doesn't make much difference I guess, just testing my old memory that has gotten short.

When the DX series originally came out, FARMALL was not on the tractor, I believe it was as of last year (2003 models) the name FARMALL has been added to the DX series machines. With the exception of the TC30, it appears the DX and TC tractor lines are pretty much clones of each other from the sub-CUTs on up to the larger CUTs. As previously mentioned, there is no Case/Farmall equivalent of the TC30 and SuperSteer is also exclusive to NH.

CNH corporation's major stockholder is Fiat of Italy, enough so to become a subsidiary of Fiat, but CNH operates as a seperate corporation and its stock it traded publicly here in the US.

Case has given the Farmall name to all of their DX series tractors, but I read something on TBN earlier this year that said they were going to give names to their other series beisdes the DX models, such as the JX and MX models. I can't find what names they were planning on giving to the JX and MX models now. Anyone recall this?
