How is Amsoil's 4 stroke oil, 0w-40? I have two ATV's and am planning on using Amsoil in them. Any suggestions? I just use them for fun and on the farm. One is a Polaris 500 Sportsman and the other is a Honda Rancher 350 ES. Thanks for your help. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I really have no clue since I do not own anything that needs that oil. I know there oil for my gas string trimmer is great no smoke.

I use that in a 2003 AC 400 since new. Got 2,500 miles on it now. Change oil & filter at 500 miles. It's main duty is farm use. Most of those miles were in low range. The oil doesn't have friction modifiers so it can be used on wet clutches but I don't run long drains on it. 500 miles is as far as I'll go on an oil change with it.

I've been using the Amsoil 10W-40 in both my VW turbocharged diesel passenger cars, my three KTM 640's motorcycles, both Honda 350 Ranchers ATV's , Kubota L-3130, Kubota ZD-21, and MF 1030 tractors.

I go 10,000 miles between changes on the turbocharged diesel VW TDIs, 100 hours on the high performance KTMs, one year on the ATV's, and 100 hours on the diesel tractors. Never have had a single problem with anything.

I haven't tried the specific motorcycle oils as the straight 10W-40 Amsoil full synthetic has worked great with the wet clutches in the motorcycles and ATVs for over ten years now without a problem, even the valves hardly need any adjustement! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just wondered since JASO MA (high friction) oils are forumated to protect better (friction coefficient and along with higher P and Zn) and were ok for wet clutches.

But it is works, why change.

Actually, the clutches work excellent with the Amsoil 10W-40. I have an hour meter on one bike and have gone up to 100 hours between changes and did not notice any deterioation in clutch performance at all. Usually with inferior oils, the first thing you notice as the oil ages is the decreased clutch performance.

BTW, the ATV's are both air cooled and run considerably hotter and their centrifugal clutches get allot of heavy duty abuse, but no problem for the Amsoil 10W-40.

Whoa, small world, Skypup! I'm used to seeing you share wisdom on your TDI over on Fred's over the years. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Same basic stock as their automotive oils, but they add a little different additive package because of the wet clutches & no catalytic converter to clog from Zinc & Phosphorous deposits. I've been using it in my Husaberg Supermotard with excellent results. (In a Husaberg that means my cam bearings & piston last more than a season!)

I heard the new Husky's upper end problems have been corrected in the new 2005 models they are importing this year.

I run my KTM 640 Adventure Bikes really hard and they have been totally bulletproof over the years. Even the machanical SOHC 4-valves hardly need any adjustment after banging off the redline hundreds of times! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I run Amsoil in everything I have. Cars, trucks, motorcycle, atv, lawn mowers, tractor, chain saw weed wacker and so on. Course My father and I are both dealers so we get it at a better price. If I didn't take advantage of the extended drain intervals I would be under something every weekend changing oil.
