Anybody know how deep the water has to get before it floats?

I guess that would depend on how your external flotation devices were arranged under the tractor chassis. right?:)

Assuming the tractor is totally incompressible [which it isnt], several hundred miles depth aughta compress water enuf to equal the density of the tractor. That would be the float point. It will be far under water when it "floats".

So I shouldn't count on floating through this hurricane?

Don't know if any of ya's here watch : R5SONSALASKA Gallery

on RFD-TV :: Rural America's Most Important Network but have seen them Perrin Boys take their L35 Bota TBL in what looks to be maybe 2 to 3 1/2 feet of water :( working with the backhoe.
But of course never floated it.

Boone

Thanks for all the reccomendations :) This morning the weater people are forecasting 1 foot of rain for tomorrow - I neve saw them forecast in feet before and I have never seen that much rain in a day :(

I guess tomorrow we will see how much is hype & how much is real. Filled the tank of the Bota & have a new chain for the saw. I'm ready

"THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS FOR 5 TO 10 INCHES OF RAINFALL ACROSS
INTERIOR SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ACROSS
THE EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES. THEREFORE A FLOOD WATCH
REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND."

The above quote is from the National Weather Service forecast for Central CT tonight and Sunday Aug 28th 2011
Even five inches of rain sounds like a disaster. It it is anywhere close to 10" that could be truly terrible. Best of luck and stay safe.

Watching the track of Irene last night they said it shifted and continues to do this AM. Yesterday it was a tropical storm and today is a Cat 1 in CT and MA, then it stops at the NH border - Ha..

The east side is more wind and west side is rain - predicting 2-5" rain on the east side of the track and 5-10" or more on the west side..

I still think its a trop storm for us in NH but time will tell - we are ready, generator, and enough food, some beer, sump pump spare..

I went across the creek, earlier this year, on my L3130. The creek had been far over the banks a few days previous to my crossing it. The creek was ok for about the length of the tractor, then it dropped off a little. I thought about backing out, but, decidec to go ahead. The water washed my floorboards clean before I got across. It never "floated" a bit. I lost another road crossing farther up the creek. Haven't filled it in yet.... another project.... Have fun and stay safe.

I realize that ya'll might get some flooding... But it sure beats the alternative.
We ahve not had rain here for over 3 months.
We would welcome a hurricane in Texas right now. It would not be considered a disaster but a miracle..

We got enough NG gas to make water if we need too. Build a pipeline if you think you can make money with water, we built a gas pipeline for you and your cars.

According to this post in another thread, Texas can make the water it needs.

Well no power since 1 pm so generator is up and running and I'm on my phone - no damage here yet just limbs and such down

PSNH power co has 100 k peeps out now ours is low priority effecting 25 houses - i can see the tree limb on the top wire so a 30 minute fix - when they arrive - could be tomorrow per the psnh person.

Oh well rain is gone and wind is 20-35 here now so all is ok
