Hello all, I've been looking for a HD boxblade and for $600 this 72" LMC looked pretty good. What do you think? Does this boxblade look HD? I wanted a woods or a frontier but couldn't stand the price tag....Thanks Mike

Based on what I've seen and looking at my HD Landpride 8' blade, I would probably classify the blade your looking at as Medium Duty. Portions of it look heavy duty, but the blade itself and some of the mounting frame look more medium duty. That being said I suspect it will serve your purposes fine

Not a heavy duty model but looks good for the price.

What are the standards for light, medium and heavy duty as far as box blades are concerned?

I don't know if you can tell in the pics or not but majority of the steel in this box blade is 1/2" except for the 4"x6" tubes they are 3/8" and some of the gussets are smaller.....I would like to see some pics of some HD box blades and prices....so I can compare...thanks Mike

Your box blade looks pretty good, especially for the money. The tube for the rippers looks like it will handle the job. How much does it weigh? The one thing that I would do, although might not be needed is to beef up the tower for the top link. I know that the heavy duty box blades have a pretty hefty tower. One other thing, what is the cubic foot rating? How deep and how tall is it?

I vote HD on this one it is thick plate and gusseted well. I wonder what it weighs?

I'm with dex3361, if that's NOT a heavy duty one... I want to see photos of what HD looks like (actually, I just want to see more photos :D)

My towers are made from 5/8" and a little more metal. Your 4110 is a bit bigger than my 3215. You might think about beefing up your tower if you are going to use the BB hard. You got a heck of a deal on your implement, maybe add some metal just for insurance. ;)

Here is a pic of a Land Pride, 72" unit weighs 930lbs. You will notice that the tower has some metal in it. Now I know that these towers don't have the rear support piece that yours has, but they still seem more substantial to me.

Anyway, just a thought.

I have had the same model Box blade several years and have no complaints. I have not did a lot of major work with it but have had some things happen that would have destroyed a lighter weight box blade. Just as you said the metal is 1/2 inch thick, I have not found a weight listed anywhere. I asked my dealer and looked at numerous websites including the LMC website. I consider it Heavy duty myself. Estimated weights have been 750- 800 Lbs.

Looks good to me. The lower pins are captured, not normal lift pins like on a Bush Hog, and that is a common failure area. The only thing I would question is the cross bar with the rippers pin.

Box construction notwithstanding, I couldn't bring myself to calling it heavy duty with that tower design. Even with only 41 horsepower, I think that's going to be the Achilles heel. Capacity appears a bit small too, but then maybe that's all you need - I don't know.

These are the kinds of three point setups that I'd rate as heavy duty. Weight is important too, I'd say a HD six footer should run over 700#

There are none. Marketing terms. But you'll know one when you see it. My HD Landpride was over $1600 20 years ago.

Most of the one's people have on this site are light duty ones.

This would be how I would rate box blades.

Heavy duty would be 150-200 pounds per foot of width.

Medium duty would be 100-150 pounds per foot.

Light duty would be everything else.

This is only a ball park, you can find implements that are built the same, just different widths. While a narrower implement that would be intended for a smaller tractor might be considered HD, that same implement but a foot or two wider intended for a bigger tractor would only be considered medium duty for that particular machine.

These are only my type of ratings, I'm sure that others will vary. ;)

Irrespective how you classify it, if it is 1/2" steel, there isn't anything that is going to damage it, that you would use a backbox for. You are more likely to damage you 3 point hitch control arms first. Here is m Woods BX 60:

good info......keep it coming....I would love to see some more pics of HD ones....that land pride looks nice and I would have to agree the tower looks stronger. The LMC far as weight the dealer told me 750lbs verbally but have not been able to verify this....it is definitely heavy though for sure and the price is good at $600.00 Thanks and keep the pics coming.......Mike

Its medium duty, unless you paint it landpride tan. Then it becomes heavy duty. Looking at it, I doubt you will ever having any problems with it. Unless you really take it out and abuse the heck out it. And I'n not what kind of abuse you could give it with 41hp?
