Not only would the steer tires hit the body, but the front axle is not designed for those stresses. The wheel bearings, steering system and ball joints cannot handle the additional load. Can you imagine the forces needed to overcome the scrub of the additional front tires? If that thing is the king of the road, its only so on a straight road.

ahhhh its not a stock stearing system on that truck.. it has a hydraulic assist so it does not have stock linkage etc.

as for bearings (and kingpin D60) ya the axle likely will handle it just fine.

And I hated driving the GMC dually back in the 90's I had at work. Try taking that through the drive up at Taco Bell or parking it at the WalMart.

Still cool looking.

What about putting fenders on the front to make it legal. I wonder what it would look like?

i am pretty sure that truck is only driven from a trailer to a display booth at shows. there is some discussion of that truck on a certain site in the "diesel ricer" thread

It wouldn't take any work to do it. I bet it's for show only too. I'd imagine I could bolt the spare on like this in my pickup and do the same thing.

I agree with the comments about being nice in a muddy field. Anyone with a diesel dually knows how terrible these things are in mud. Some of you would laugh at the spots I've been stuck in....how easy they should be to get out of but aren't!

Even with front duals on a tractor, cultivating rough farmland, you can feel every bump in the steering wheel... Imagine what happens when hitting a kerb with the dual :D

I can personally attest to the weak ball joint setup on the 03 and up AAM axles. The lower ball joint is the same size as a 70s vintage 1/2 ton Ford. I should also mention that the upper joint is only a kingpin type guide that supports no vertical weight.
The truck pictured needs some 2 1/2 ton Rockwell top loaders under it.

That is very unpractical looking and I WANT IT!!

Not really all that hard to put duals on the front of a GM dually but then you'd need 80 acres to turn it around. One trip on US-52 in Virginia would convince them that the front duals were a very bad idea. We won't even talk about the idiot who took a dually and 6X16' trailer down WV-3 from Marmet to Beckley. Google lies about it only taking an extra hour over the WV TPK.;)
