Does This sound right?

I went to the JD dealer today and got a price for a 4710 with folding ROPS, industrial tires, Dual valves rear light kit, engine heater and 460 loader. along with that I am going to buy a JD 345 with a 54" inch deck. The price he gave me for all that is 34,500. Is that good? I said I will call him on monday to have him order the 4710 if I think the price is fair, he also said thats not his final price. I asked how long it would be til I got the 4710 he said if I tell him on monday I will have it at my house within in 10 to 15 days. I didnt know they were coming out yet. I think that price is ok dont you? thanks Cliff

I don't know if the price is fair or not, but I have a problem in someone saying "that's not my final price". I would ask that he give you the best possible price, in writing, then I'd call a few other close JD dealers and compare. This type of pricing issue is what got me looking at (and eventually purchasing) blue.

There are also a few dealers, that look at this site that could comment

One other thing, it might help clear up this whole comparision if you separated the 345 pricing...

Don't know about the 4710 series or what a reasonable price for the JD345 would be but since your sig mentioned you are torn between the JD4710 and NH45D thought I would mention that last summer saw a NH45D at a dealer with a 84" MMM, Supersteer, cab with heater, triple remotes on the rear, block heater, and 17LA loader. It was for a school district. Asked how much a setup like that would cost and he told me that is was around $27k. The cab and MMM alone cost more then $6k.

Why don't you get separate prices on the 4710 and the 345? Why have the dealer lump everything into one price. Doesn't sound right that dealer says "this isn't my best price." If that's not his best price, then what is? Don't deal until he tells you definitively.

I will be shopping for similar package you are looking at in a couple months. I'm telling my dealer what is the best you can do for me. If he comes back with a price out of whack with the numbers you guys discuss in these forums, then I go elsewhere.

don't know if the price is good or not, not to fanilar with the bigger machines, but do have a problem with a guy that would tell u that is not his best price! why would he not give u his best price when he quoted it?

I called him and said that I will go back and deal with him next weekend. He said that they are ordering like five of each of the new tractors on monday I told him to put my name on a 4710, and he said ok but I dont have to buy it if I find a better price.

You should be in the 23-25k range on that 4710 Plower. On the 325 you should be in the 5-6k range. Based on that overall you should be between 28 and 31k in my opinion. $34k is way too high.

Just my 2 cents--as a volume John Deere dealer, you should be able to buy the set-up for around 32K. Keep in mind that the dealer needs to make a little profit to be able to service you after the sale. Make sure that the dealer you are buying it from has the facility and resources to be able to service the equipment, because often the lowest price isn't the best deal.
