A few days back I was doing a favor and picking up a chunk of square tube for Junkman at Summit Equipment here in town.

JASTN70D was also with me since he needed some steel for a project that he was working on.

Anyway while I was waiting to get my steel weighed so I could pay I noticed a little lady in line ahead of me paying for a chunk of steel that she was purchasing.

John and I followed her out the door and I jokingly said that I wish that my wife would pick up the steel needed for our projects.

She looked over her shoulder and said she wasn't running any errands and that the steel was hers. She acted like she meant it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

So John replies that he wished that our wifes could weld so we might not have too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I guess I never gave it much thought but I'm sure theres more than a few women out there that probably really enjoy running a bead, right? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

How bout it, is your little lady content to watch. or does she roll up her sleeves and strike the arc?

I believe in equal opportunity! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not mine. She is into low impact activities such as quilting, cross stitching, and knitting. But that is fine. She doesn't mind what I do or (generally) what it cost. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

At least half the women I've dated since my divorce wanted to learn to weld. It wasn't even something I knew was an interest to them, but it ranks right on up there with four wheelers and walking in the woods!

This is a photo I posted in another thread of my girlfriends first project. She really loves welding along with the whole process of turning nothing into something.

Now she wants me to get a plasma cutter so she can make more "stuff."

We were putting up pipe fence, with a buddy doing the welder in trade for hunting rights. Well, he had a hard time showing up, so my wife made him show her how, and away she went. She wants a welder, now, and I am sure she'd want a plasma cutter, If i tell her about them...

My wife's interests run more to shopping.........if I let her tho, she would find me the absolute best deal in the world on any tools I wanted, she's definitely an expert in her field- years of experience I guess. She saw a really nice stainless steel rollbox at Sam's Club yesterday, I'll be surprised if I don't see one in the garage this year as a Father's day present of Birthday present in July! (Hope, hope!)

Just yesterday my younger daughter (now back in school to get certified as a teacher) told me she wished she wasn't so busy with her studies...

"Dad, I wish I had more time. I want to learn to weld..."

She will learn soon I think. Probably TIG since it is more fun than stick (at least for me) and more likely to suitable for her artist side...

Now the wife...well...no way I'm going to encourage her to get out of the kitchen! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey guys sorry to rub it in /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, but I got that tool box from sams discounted because it had a dent for a steal of $300. You can barely see the dent on the side, and can't see it at all when it gets pushed back in its hole. And btw my wife does not get into welding, but she does like the 4wheelers.
