In thirty three years living at my present location I have never had a dispute with any neighbor until now. The guy on the corner or his adult daughter come out every morning and walk their three dogs. They bring them out, two on leashes, one running free, and walk about a hundred yards down the road to let the dogs crap in their neighbors yards. Usually mine. If anybody is out they would smile and wave as the dog did it's business. Several have politely asked them to not do this and they say OK and wait a week and come back and do it again.

I stopped the girl last week and told her in no uncertain terms to not let her dog sxxt in my yard. She said she would stop it but now the whole family is pissed at me. The guy gives me the finger when I drive by his house.

Question #1: Why do 'dog people' think it is just great for non dog owners to step in and smell dog poop all the time?

Question #2: Why don't they have the dogs poop in their own yard? I can answer that one myself, they don't want their grandkids stepping in it. But it is okay if mine do even if we don't have dogs.

Question #3: If I walk out to the road to talk to the guy and pull out a pistol and shoot the little mutt on the leash as it is pooping do you think I will get in trouble?

From being a long time dog lover these people and others like them are turning me and my family into dog (and 'dog people') haters.

Just a rant.

Its always hard dealing with neighbors with situations like this because in reality, everyone wants things as peaceful as possible. I had to tell my neighbor the other day to keep his dog contained, he was letting him run free. So far he is listening because he knows I mean business. I'll give you 2 options: pick the crap up (I know you shouldn't have to) and throw back in their yard, or since you don't have a dog, you will have to do the deed by crapping in their yard :)

Just in case you're not kidding, it is almost certainly not legal for you to shoot the dog because it's pooping on your yard. It's not the dog's fault its owner is irresponsible. If it was threatening people or livestock, that would be another thing, but it doesn't deserve to die for this offense.

I hear what your saying, I'd be pissed off too, and I am by all means a "dog person"
We have 2 English Mastiffs and a St Bernard, all told there is 550 lbs of dog there and believe me they turn out some serious S#%T! I would never let my dog go into someone else's yard, period, let alone to go to the bathroom. Please don't let your irresponsible neighbor turn your opinion of "dog people" into a generalized hatred of all "dog people"

Do you have an animal control officer? They might be able to help, but either way, your neighbor sounds like the type that will hate you regardless, because you aren't letting his dog do what dogs do. It's the owners responsibility, next time you should go over there, pick up the dog S$!T, and throw it in they're face....seriously. They wont' do it again!

And ya, you can't just shoot a dog, only if it is endangering you or someone else, and even then it is a VERY gray area.

I understand your need to rant though

Next time you see the old man....ask him if he's unhappy with you. than ask him why his unhappy with you. Be nice and polite and let HIM know its unexceptable. Ask him if he'd like it if the tables were turned. Be straight up. Your in the right until you go over the line.

Or put a sign in your yard indicating that: All animals, human or not, may or may not possibly get lead type illness or some type or poinsioning. Random target practice area. All critters should be cautious!! Especially while skatting or deficating!!

It 's an education thing. They don't know they are violating the law. Owners are suppose to clean up after their dog. The inconsiderate ones don't. Put up a large sigh stating do not curb your dog on my property unless you extend to clean up after it. Those that don't will be publicly posted as dodo offenders with their address posted. Don't get mad, get even.

Many years ago when I lived in town the people across the street let their big dog out to do it's business, seemed to be my front yard most of the time. Went over to ask them not to have this happen anymore. Of course it didn't stop. So after the dog did it's business a few more times on my lawn I scooped it up with a shovel and put it ALL at the bottom of their front stairs. I was being a good neighbor in retuning what their dog had dropped. A couple of days later they started building a fence to keep their dog in. No more dodo on my front lawn. :D

A neighbor walks his dogs unleashed by our place in town 2 x a day. If you are out he calls them back from your yard otherwise they go where they please, literally. Got back to town a couple falls ago and my wife was upset cause of his dog messes in our yard, I picked up a bunch of it in a large zip lock, knocked on his door and gave him his dogs lost droppings back and now he always calls his dogs back weither we are outside or not.
