Dogs and Tractors

No dog, but our hogs run along the fence line when I drive the tractor by. Hogs can act a lot like dogs sometimes.

Our geriatric Papillion Missy(12 years old) thinks it's HER tractor and gets in the drivers seat at every opportunity and growls at the other dogs if they come anywhere near HER Kubota:laughing:

I have no pictures, but my cat will take my tractor seat as soon as I shut it off, or if I get up from my desk, my cat will take my chair.

I love my dog dearly but whenever I leave the dooryard on the tractor my dog goes up on the porch and lays down like I have trained her to. I don't like working in the woods or running the sicklebar mower and having to worry about what the dog is doing or where she is. Try to mow when your dog is trying to catch the field mice you are dislodging - not fun at all.

when i walk out of the house an look like im going to the tractor my dog beats me to it.if im going to another farm on the road the dog stays home.but if i stay in the pasture an work i have to put her up because she gets in the way.

Our Terrier has adopted the RTV. When he hears the diesel engine he won't sit still til he is in the seat looking out the front glass. He is especially attracted to the heat / ac modes of the fan and remains close for maximum coverage. If I would bring him his food he would stay there in his new home.

my mutt HotDog (chow lab shep mix) LOVES to ride on my TC40 with me. He won't mount or dismount without a command (arm movements) from me. He will only mount the tractor on the left side, dismount from right. This usually works well, only OCCASIONALLY he will step on the throttle pedal. This usually scares me! He will move to the tractor on command (works GREAT when I'm felling trees). I'm lucky to have a great dog, but part of that is that I spend a lot of time with him. Guess that tractors & dogs just go together...

Yes, exactly like that.

And I, like you, have trained my animals to stay away from all of my motorized equipment.
I don't want to take a chance on them getting hurt.

You aren't kidding! Mine will run along the fence and then in circles, woofing the whole time.
