Interesting thread. It kind of reminds me of wine discussions. Which is better and why.
I've had three papered purebreds with parents who were champions of some level. My brother competes and is a field trial judge with more dogs then I can keep track of.
Just like comparing the most expensive wines, I've learned that it really doesn't make a difference to "me" what it cost or who says it's better, the best tasting wines for me are usually sold in a box. The best dogs I've ever met and owned have either been found, given away or brought home from a pound.
Every mixed breed mut that I've had, including my current ones, are more healthy, better disposed, more intellegent and even tempered then the high dollar "pure breds" that I've come into contact with.
I'm not saying your dog is a bad one, or that mine are better. I've never seen or met it. This is just my experience and observation. Kind of like seeing a new baby and realizing it's an ugly baby. The parents dont' see it, to them it's the prettiest baby ever, but everyone else sees it.
Dog's are the same. The owner thinks theirs is the best one around and relies on papers, pedigry and ancestry to support their point. It doesn't matter that the dog couldn't win a championship or even learn to retrieve, the owner is blind to reality.
On breeding, no way. Puppies are a pain to deal with, they stink and are noisy. If I never deal with them again, I'll be that much happier.
