you hit my favorite subject, so i thought i would brag about my chocolate lab , that i found wandering in a parking lot for any tidbit of food or affection. She's wonderful when it comes to retrieving anything out of the water, only problem is i can't seem to get her to share the prize. she just won't release the goodie, until SHE wants to. if anyone has any suggestions please inquire, she's very set her ways, but will always play a game for treats, but not a good idea, since she's a big sized girl, and athritis sometimes inhibites(?) her activities.

Plower,

I'm thinking this is going to be of the longest threads on TBN. For the 2,697 registered members, I bet we own about twice that many dogs. (or that many dogs own us) When I was a kid and everyone came home from school all the other kids dog would come running out to greet them, my dog would run under the porch and hide. I used to practice roping on the dog. I have two dogs now, one part Coyote and the other is a Rotweiler. The only down side of dog is the short time we have to enjoy each one.

hi, have you heard of the Big Dog saying? "if you can't run with the BIG DOG'S, stay on the porch. (sound familiar, except for a slight change of destination!!)

For us little dog owners (miniature dachshund, or is it compact canine???) the saying
is... If you don't fit on mama's lap, then stay on the porch!

gtg,
Thats the way my dog is too, once he retrieves it he won't let go intil he wants to. Or you end up chasing him for it.

Got three, Beagle/chihuahua, Beagle/Basset and Beagle, all rescued, all great dogs, 'cept I don't think anybody ever told them they were dogs.

Have a liver/white german shorthair about 5 years old. Still thinks he's a kid, but loves the bird fields. Am thinking it is about time we bring a sister shorthair home following this hunting season.

Fudge, the cocker spaniel is a lap dog, but the problem is, he weighs in at about 40 pounds. When he's not retrieving from the tank, he likes to lay on his back with his head hanging off the chair, loose lips drooling......

He's used to things being a certain way, so if he goes outside and there's something where there didn't used to be anywhere he corners it and barks. This usually happens when my wife gets a new hanging basket.

I can put one hand over my face, and he barks at me, thinking I'm a stranger.....
