Tractor
Kubota L3400
I wanted to put in a bigger garden this year with my new bigger tractor.
Let me rephrase that........................ I want to put in a bigger garden, because I have a bigger tractor.
I used a rototiller, I noticed the lawn was wet.
Then I pulled in a trailer with manure and the trailer wheels sunk in.
Next I drove out to the garden with the tractor and made some more ruts.
I was on a mission.
I made a mess of the perfect lawn I had with ruts. I can't drive out there to fix the ruts because the tires sink in. (R4s, foam filled on a L3400)
Using a hand roller, but it does not to the trick.
It seems like I'm just going backwards. I have a great machine, I have seat time, but maybe working a garden with a tractor is different than digging a trench or moving dirt.
I could have just bought a dam cucumber for $1.00 and called it a day!
I need to figure out how to fix these ruts.
Maybe make some three foot wide tires.

Probably ought to let the lawn dry out some. What other attachements do you have? Might have to till first then level with box blade. What motor do you have in the Cobra?

Solution? Buy an even BIGGER tractor, make even BIGGER ruts and the ones you've already made will be looked upon with relative insignificance.

Sometimes the simplest way to level ruts is to fill them. But let the ground dry. You can not work a wet garden or you will bog or have very lumpy ground or both.

I Still have good grass where these ruts are located.
I have a box scraper and a york rake. But I don't want to tear up the whole lawn. Maybe filling in the ruts is the answer.

or
Maybe I will get a bigger tractor, big enough to loads in reverse!

Don't feel bad. I love my gardening too. I have a rototiller that cost me $2,000. Bought a BX tractor for $18,000 5 years ago. Bought an excavator for $30,000 to pop trees and brush to expand my garden, bought a dump trailer to haul horse poop to my garden last spring for $5,000 upgraded my tractor last fall to a B2620 for $19,000 plus the rest of the smaller garden stuff. Yup... could've bought all the veggies I grew in the past 5 years from the market garden up the road for $500. Hmmmm!!!! What the heck it's too much fun to quit now.

My explains the mess by asking people "can you tell we have a tractor?"

Fill the ruts in with some fill dirt, throw some seed on them, and next time wait till the ground dries up. If you cant drive your tractor without creatin ruts you sure as h*ll aint gonna be able to till, disc or spread. Be patient I farm 400 acres patiences goes a long way, ya i wanna get in the fields but youll do more damage than good gettin out there too soon
