Dolmar 7900

4sarge,
I bought a new Husky 372xp this past spring. I also looked at the Dolmars specifically because i had heard so much "good" about the 7900. I was elated to go to Dolmars dealer locator, and find a dealer in the next town. Unfortunately...... it is a hardware store that wouldn't give me the time of day when i went there to check them out. So.... i went to the next closest dealer, which is thirty miles away, but someplace i pass by fairly frequently. The owner of that shop (lawnmower/small engine/chainsaw shop) started telling me outright lies about competeing saw maunfacturers (this was NOT my first chainsaw purchase). I had ZERO confidence in anything he had to say. So.... like yourself, i found out Dolmar has a HORRIBLE dealer network. At least i didn't buy one and have a problem with it before i found out !! Anyway... i ended up buying my 372 at a Husky dealer about 25 miles away because my local Husky and Stihl dealers both leave alot to be desired. I've been more than happy with my purchase (my third Husqvarna).... and dare i say, the 372 RIPS !!!! If you have a good Stihl dealer, check out the new 361 and 441, the both have gotten great reviews. I aslo recommend you do some reading at both "Arborist Site" and "The Forrestry Forum" to catch up on which saws are good, and which are boat anchors.

Thanks for your thoughts and my sentiments exactly. Dolmar is going nowhere with the dealer network that they have and the lack of modern marketing. The problem with arboristsite.com on opinions is that it's Ford vs Chevy, wild claims and the very small Dolmar contingent. Looks like a Husky 372XP & 346XP are in my future. They can keep the private stock Dolmar's for their exclusive customers

Thats to bad that the dealers around you are not helpfull. The 7900 has alot more power than the 372's with only 1/10th more the weight. Husqvarna and stihl has been getting cheaper on quality over the past 5 yrs, but then again just about every power euipment company is . Their big seller the 455 rancher has had problems with the oil line being to small and plugging up and once it plugs up you have to dissamble the clutch and oil pump to clean out. Husqvarnas lower line of saws models 36 136 41 141 240 340........., the Home owner line of saws are made by electrolux who also makes poulan. To me a company who is just willing to sell their name doesn't empress me. As far as the 372s go I believe it to be husqvarnas most reliable saw. I do like like the 357 xp but they have had many problems with the auto deco valve and the walbro hda 199 carbs. Here in michigan we have many of the loggers putting down their husky and grabbing a dolmar. We will just see what the future has to bring.
