Don't buy DURO brand trailer tires

Purchased a 6X12 aluminum utility trailer from a local business back in early 2009, it came with Duro ST205/75 D-range tires. After less than 4000 lightly loaded miles with proper inflation pressure, despite my efforts to preserve the sidewalls with Protect-All and keeping the tires covered when not in use:

The sidewalls are badly cracked down to the cords, and the tread, although almost new depth, shows extreme cracking at the bottom of the tread. These are the worst tires I have ever owned, and I hope this information helps another trailer buyer avoid such a poorly made product.

Trailer tires seem to die from old age before mileage.. you got 5 yrs out of them, that is about max life anymore..

Well...we are told that ST trailer tires are specially made to resist the effects of weathering...tell you something....I have a '95 vintage Jayco 30' TT that has the OEM ST Goodyear Marathon radials, it gets used at least once a year, but the tires look MUCH better than the Duros do...if 5 years is considered a normal life for trailer tires made today, screw it....I will just use regular tires

Do not use car tires on a trailer. They do not have the same load capacity as trailer tires.

I just bought a used Hurst trailer, 1998 model with the original Duro tires on it. They too have cracked sidewalls and I intend to replace them......but they are 16 years old......

That depends on the tire. If you use car/truck tires, check the weight rating before buying and make sure they are heavy enough.

Most ST (trailer tires) are made in china today, doesn't matter what the brand... and they're all cr*p...
There are still a few made in the usa, but you have to look.
I had three blowouts in a 600 mile stretch, down in Baja, Mexico, one had been installed for a year, had about 2000 miles, the other two were new unused spares, kept inside the trailer (no UV) .
First spare lasted 3 hours, the second a day and a half.
First thing I did after crossing the border was new tires all around, and the best I could get were made in Mexico!

If you can get 5 years out of a "modern" ST tire, I'd say you did very good!
