I used a 2002 JD 5310 for 18 years and sweated my gnads off. 100 degrees and 80+% humidity is a killer. I longed for the day I could get a cabbed tractor and did it this year. I have used it very little so far but what I have gives me zero regrets.

TYM recently bought out Branson (who bailed on Century and Montana [who bailed on Farmtrac] tractor brands).

I'm not saying they both go away. I'm just wondering if the mother ship (TYM) will keep 2 brands, 2 manufacturing facilities, 2 sets of overhead, etc. I don't think it will happen tomorrow, but I could see the following take place ...

Year
5......,,,,,,,,,,TYM and Branson
6 single brand TYM/Branson
7.................... TYM/Branson
8..................... TYM/Branson
9......................... TYM

Granted, this is pure speculation on my part, but this scenario is not so different from other companies being bought out. One would think that if this did happen, they would combine the best of both brands and continue parts support. I have seen company logos /brands follow that same path. If Branson (or TYM for that matter) are serious about their futures, they will amp up their parts availability, online parts look ups, etc. and get more dealers like Dave's Tractor.

Branson owners seem to like their tractors and that's cool. That said, there will be some irony if Branson becomes an orphan tractor after they made other brands orphans. I'm just saying that corporations do what corporations do.

i believe ls made montana tractors

Montana Tractors was founded in 2004 by J.B. Hunt, Charlie Goforth and Dan Downing in Springdale, Arkansas, USA. J.B. Hunt founded JB Hunt Trucking and was stuck with unpaid freight bills from the bankrupt Agracat Tractors, leaving JB Hunt Trucking with 500 tractors.[1] The company was originally named LG Montana Tractors, to show the link to LG as the producer of the tractors. Montana added to its supplier base, and dropped the LG from the name.

Montana supplier LG tractor division changed its name to LS Tractors, and tractors were also sourced for Montana from Universal in Romania, TYM and Kukje in South Korea and Sonalika in India.

In 2008, Farmtrac North America filed bankruptcy, and Montana bought out their inventory, which included tractors from LG/LS and from Farmtrac's parent company, Escorts Group in India. The Farmtrac tractors were re-badged as Montana Limited and retained their Farmtrac-blue color.[2][3]

In 2009, LS announced they would be entering the USA with their own branded-tractors, and Montana would be loosing them as a supplier. Montana began discussions in 2009 with Branson Tractors, a division of Kukje to merge the USA operations of the two. The merger was called off, but Kukje was added as a supplier. Some Branson tractors were rebadged as Montana and marketed as Montana Special Edition.[4]

By the end of 2010, Montana Tractors was no longer selling tractors since their former supplier, LS, began selling tractors in the USA, but just marketing parts for their products.

Visited my local New Holland dealer today. Picked up a tie rod for the 6600 and chatted with one of their service guys. He surprised me when he said they sometimes have an easier time getting parts for the older Fords than they do the newer New Holland equipment. Walked over to sales next and they were friendly, but had almost nothing in stock. Had a single Workmaster 40 out front and a couple larger T4 or T5's across the street. Waiting on an emailed quote now on a Boomer 45 with cab and loader. If I go with New Holland I have it narrowed down to the Boomer 45 or 50. I like the slightly larger frame compared to the 40 and under.

Also found an LS dealer not too far from me so waiting on a quote from them now as well on the equivalent tractor.

Might have to stop looking and go with LS just because it matches my initials. :)
