don't forget the ramps

When I'm done hooking up my trailer, people watching probably think I have OCD...I check everything at least 3 times..Do it to my motorhome too...I annoy myself actually but haven't had a problem (recently)..About 10 years ago a borrowed car hauler jumped off the ball at about 10 miles per hour after driving all day with the trailer both loaded and unloaded...That one left me paranoid and I still don't understand how it happened. I even jacked up the truck up a few inches after initial connection. Fortunately the break-away and chains did their job.

I understand what your saying, especially about the finding another rental company if they won't let you check over the unit, but just out of curiosity, just how many tool rental places are there in Bismarck, Arkansas? I just wished there had been ONE in the little town where I lived. (We didn't even have a traffic light, and there still isn't one)

I can understand them wanting to do their own check, even if, as in this case they did a poor job of it.

But, I can't understand how they could stop you from doing your own check anyway.

Just wait until they are through and then do your own check. How can they stop you?

When my son was 4, we were going to town, I herd a crash when driving down the driveway. Looked back and the car trailer was following us. Some one had hooked a dog chain to the trailer and my hitch, my son had a strange look on his face:shocked: I lerned to do a walkaround after that.

Not a whole lot in Bismarck. One gas station, post office, one morning cafe, 2 restraurants and a small grocery store. We do have one traffic light on Hwy 7. I have the choice to go to Hot Springs or Arkadelphia or Malvern if I wish to rent something although I cant think of a thing that I would need to use that I dont own or would otherwise use a contractor for. I have rented in the past a large jack hammer and sewer snake and a few trucks for moving but that is about it. Dont plan to move again and all my concrete is new so it should last my lifetime.

I've not left ramps down but I have left the landing leg down at the hitch on a small trailer when I drove off. It was only when I arrived that I found this bent and bashed leg that was jammed in its clamp and wouldn't go up or down. Made unhitching it more interesting given it was loaded!

I guess Bismarck is bigger than Gillham, lol. David from jax

At least you just need to pick up the other ramp from the driveway.
I was wondering what you've been mowing, though...you must have some really tough brush in your neighbourhood!

I had been storing my BIL's MG sports car for a few years and it was decided he needed it at his place. Hired a transporter but 10 minutes down the road had to stop suddenly (in rush hour traffic) and the car jumped forward and put both front wheels over the rail on the front of the transporter. Had blocks nailed in front of both front wheels. parkbrake on (hard) and 2 straps over the back axcel.

Lifted the car back. Fifty miles down the road BIL is following about 10 minutes behind me and he sees a front jocky wheel lying in the middle of the road. In the main street of this small town. (sometimes known as Hobbitville as that is where Lord of the Rings and The hobbit was filmed) I had no idea I had lost it until he gave it back to me when I got to his home another 40 miles on.

Hire company said they had lost a few.
