I'm glad I'm in Minnesota were we have the good sense to keep our rattle snakes along certain, known sections of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers.

Well, that's a dang good place for him to be, IMO.

Born and raised in SD and we had rattlesnakes wherever they decided that there might be something to eat!

That baled up snake sure looks like a constrictor - not a pit viper - though. Just like that fellow on the bottom picture.

Very nasty bite but not venomous.

You know, I used to kill every darn rattlesnake I came across for years! Then, with a bit of age and the recognition that they ate mice and rats and all those d@mn pocket gophers... Those buggers that created all those piles of dirt that ended up in the hay and down my shirt and in my eyes!!

I quit killing 'em. I would herd them off, outta the way - as they would hiss, spit and buzz.

That is one big RATTLER!!! But now he would make a couple pair of nice western riding boots. Thanks for sharing from ldbb, Eagle, Wis.

This past year I encountered a similar experience but not with a rattlesnake. This one is a copperhead. I guess my bales are fairly tight.
