Don't say nothin' bad about Lowes

The paperwork went smooth on mine now my taxes/tags cost another 145.00 here in NC. Glad you got one at that price. I bought it to haul things like the riding lawn mower and coolers/ bikes for camping trips/vacations I am thinking about putting a wood floor on it which should stiffen it up some Randy

Well, you got that military discount that I didn't get, but the difference in taxes/tags makes up for it. My total was $76.85. I don't know about other states, but this $76.85 was broken down as $31.13 sales tax, $32.92 plate sticker, $0.30 reflectorization fee, $10.00 county road/bridge add-on fee, $1.50 child safety fund, and $1.00 automation fee (large city).

I wanted one with the ramp for the little ZTR mower I've got coming this week, but occasionally to haul other things, too. I don't intend to put any permanent wood floor on it, but may throw a sheet of plywood in there sometimes or even just a tarp if I should want to haul any dirt or sand.

Bird,

You reckon that trailer would haul a ZTR with a 60" deck? I'm getting a Gravely soon and will need to haul it around some.

Chuck, they call it a 5' x 8'. I did measure it and it's that size with less than a quarter inch to spare either direction. So if a 60" mower means it mows 60", then the deck won't fit. If it's 60" to the outside of the deck, it''ll sure be tight.

Thanks Bird. Ah well, I can probably just borrow one of my SIL's trailers when I need to move the new toy. It is likely it will end up at his place some anyway, and my dear daughter would much rather I borrow it than one of her brother's in law! And, yes, SIL listens to his own version of SWMBO!

Hate Lowes. Bought a new water heater there last year, had to beg them to get it out of the rack and beg them to help load it in my truck. $500.00 item. No one was interested in doing any work.

I always wondered if a company can mark down implements 10-20-30%. How much profit do they make when there is no sale or discounts applied? Clothing is another example: buy 1 mens suit at regular price and get 2 of equal or greater value free. Womens clothing marked down 70 %. IMHO. It is all sales gimmicks. Ken Sweet

Hey Ken,

How about 70% off that Ford 101 Turning plow you got listed on Ebay??? I'll even come and pick it up

I actually perfer the way mernards operates in this aspect:thumbsup:

I hate lowes and HD where you are expected to cart it all out of the store instead of being able to drive the truck and trailer right up next to it.

And I usually decline the help when offered at menards. I PERSONALLY what to check each board as it goes into my truck/trailer. Because when I plan a job like a shed or deck, I figure EXACT. Nothing worse than having to make a 35min trip back because a 2x4 was twisted or split.

The only time I usually let them help load is when I am getting something like a full pallet or two of landscape bricks, or concrete, etc.

Plus, everything outback is paved/concrete. Nothing like driving through the mudholes and walking through them when loading up at carter or 84 lumber.

I have purchased drywall at Menards. for the convenience of backing up to the stack. The biggest complaint I have is the cashiers are not allowed to "order" 2x4 etc. from the back. You have to go to their service desk. That either seems to have 3 guys or none. There is an old style Lowes with the lumber in back in Bellefontaine that is about the same distance from me that the cashiers can ring up the lumber from your list.

It also takes me about the same to get to the east side of Marion as it does Dublin, so alot of times I head there instead.
