It's an oak, it's still standing I'm having a hard time bringing myself to put it on the ground but I guess this weekend I will have to get back on it.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I bought two acres three years ago and built a house on it. The farmer pointed out about ten Elm trees and told me to take good care of them. These trees just started on thier own. He told me the land was full of Elm trees 20 years ago and then Dutch Elm Disease wiped them all out. It's been three years now that I have lived on this new land and the Elm Trees have gotten as high as 40 feet. I can not believe they have grown that fast.
Problem started last spring. One of the taller Elms just after the leaves came in they all died at the top. Kind of worried some about it but then the leaves all came back a month ago. This spring now all the leaves came in and then went dead. Did some research and found that that tree had Dutch Elm Disease. Was told I would lose all of the Elms within 5 years. So my farmer guy is saddened by it all.
