Double "[url]http://"[/url] corrupts urls

Muhammad, when a URL is cut & pasted into a message, then the " bracket url bracket" LINK bracket/url bracket" manuever done to make a link, you end up with 2 "http://'s" in the URL that renders the link inoperative. Is that just the way it is? On my Internet Explorer a missing "http://" is automatically added. I think most dysfunctional links are caused by this.

If you enter the URL properly, it will work properly. The only case that I have found an extra httlp:// to be added is if the URL is an https URL. If you enter www.tractorbynet.com between url tags you get http://www.tractorbynet.com... since it adds the http:// to the front. If you enter http://www.tractorbynet.com between URL tags, then you get http://www.tractorbynet.com...

Perhaps RCH is talking about a copy and paste error I have made more than once. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

If you're using the tag and accidentally copy in a leading space, like so:

[url= [url]http://www.tractorbynet.com]... (note the space after the equals sign), you will get an extra "http://" inserted in front of your intended URL.

Stripping leading spaces is pretty heavy-duty software /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif, but I'll bet we could lobby to have it added to the next generation of improvements.

Yeah, he had spaces at the front and back... you just have to get the URL without spaces within the brackets.

The formatting example in the help file does show with leading and trailing spaces, though...
