When I was a kid, we occasionally found double yolked eggs; not frequently, but often enough it wasn't considered to be any really unusual thing. However, I don't think I've actually seen one in many many years since we get our eggs from the grocery store. Double yolked eggs were usually considerably bigger than the normal eggs. However, this morning I was fixing some sausage and eggs, what the store calls "large" eggs, but they appear rather small to me, and one was only slightly larger than the others and it was a double yolked egg. I don't think I ever got one from a grocery store before.

I have gotten at least one or two double yolks but not much more than that. I thought it was cool everyone else in the house just kinda shrugged there shoulders. :D

They just don't appreciate the little things in life...

Our next door neighbours are commercial poultry farmers and they often come up with double yolkers. They sell there eggs on to a supermarket chain and the supermarket don't like the doubles for some reason. So, all the ones turn out to be double yolkers are sold at the farm gate. We regualrly have them with are ham and chips. :D

When I was growing up, we had chickens...Rhode Island Reds, Polish Game Hens and Roosters and some "white" chickens from a neighbors chicken house. The Polish game's would lay blueish-green eggs and occassionally, the white chickens (don't know the name of them) would lay huge double-yolkers.

I've never had one in a box of store eggs...I think they 'screen' them in some fashion. You got a treat with that one!

Our next door neighbours have a thing a bit like a airport security scanner that all the eggs run through on a conveyor belt. Any the computer doesn't like are shown to the operator who decides if they are bad. The supermarkets don't like the doubles as they are normally too big and don't fit in the boxes well. :)

We have a double yolk and a no yolk egg in the fridge right now. We usually get one double yolk egg a week from our hens but so far only the one non-yolk (it is tiny next to the double yolker)

They used to call it "candling" eggs, where they held each egg up to a candle to see what it looked like inside. I think they use a little better light now-a-days.

Robert, I've seen a number of double yolked eggs in my lifetime, but I can't recall seeing a no yolk egg. That would be something new for me. Now if you could figure out to to regularly produce those, they ought to sell well since a lot of recipes call for egg whites and you wouldn't have to separate the whites and yolk.

I raise chickens.. mostly small breeds like banty. but do have some RIR and other medium and large breeds.

I have a couple banty hens that consistantly throw double yolk..

I knew double yolked eggs weren't really unusual when I was a kid, although I'd never known of them being in the grocery stores, but it sounds like they may be even more common than I thought.

Before we moved, I'd regularly buy a particular brand of Jumbo Brown eggs and there were usually 60% double yoked eggs per carton.

There store where we now shop is part of the same chain, but doesn't carry this particular brand.

In the 60's one of my father's hunting buddies worked on an egg farm & always brought the eggs to camp. Never less than double yolks, sometimes triple or quad. He said the farm sold multiple yolk eggs to food processing plants where only the yolks were used, like egg noodles, etc. MikeD74T

There is no such thing as a Polish GAME chicken. The Polish are classified as in the Crested variety, and the picture you have is the white crested black variety they are a very docile breed and not bred for the game pit. where the real game roosters/game fowl are used. The Polish do not lay the colored eggs, unless the ones you have were crossed with an Araucana
