I agree with the 2wd scenario. BTDT, have a broken fence post to show for it!

In a similar vein, I was loading the dump trailer on the driveway, with it hooked to the pickup. Too much weight on the tail of the trailer and it reduced the weight on the truck rear wheels and the truck started to slide! I learned to:
1) park the truck in 4wd,
2) pay more attention in how I load the trailer.

It is interesting how some of these "expensive" lessons stick with us isn't it?

The first time I went down a slippery hill with my old B7500 in 2WD was a real "eye opener"

I think someone here has a good story about driving onto a trailer with their tractor, which caused the tongue to lift the back of their pickup and let it roll out away from them. That surely must have been a sight to see.

I live on top of a steep hill that I have to bushhog.

The first time this happened to me (forgot to put it in 4wd going downhill), I called it my "2 inch ride".

That's 'cause I sucked up two inches of the seat before I got it back under control! :)

I live on a hillside.
I to learned the keep it in 4wd going down hill:eek: and rarely had/have anything on my 3ph. I now ALWAYS keep it in 4wd going down hill and never have an issue......except for one time when the grass was wet :eek: which I'll never do again. :)

Yep it must not have been in 4wd. Went down several times today and no issues.

We have all done it, and most of us live to tell about it!:D

Gosh. Reading these stories makes me quite thankful I have no real slopes on my property. I am quite forgetful.

I did the exact same thing yesterday with my BX25D. Was absolutely terrifying, to avoid going out into a road I turned to the right but was scared to death I was going to roll it. Just lucky in the end that I didn't. Just picked up speed and the brake wasn't doing anything. Had an empty bucket and no implement on the back. After it happen I figured out that there was not enough weight on the back tires to effectively use the brakes or the transmission to slow me down, effectively freewheeling on the front tires. In hind sight I should have dropped my bucket instead of turning. Lucky to have lived and learned. I also should have checked this forum and I would have see this thread. Stay safe everyone!
