DPF

Yes, so what is the point?

Kubota has a 26 hp, 3 cyl that meets emissions, less the dpf. As noted below, others are using DOC technology, which does NOT employ a dpf filter. Very agressive EGR and high pressure fuel rail direct injection.

everything over 25hp does.

Kubota has some models with issues, otherwise i've heard nothing bad.

I have a kioti CK35 with DPF..regens about 38 hours of use, while i"m using it, takes 10-15 min. the rest of the time no smells or smoke from the diesel. I like that.

The RK55 is essentially the same as a Mahindra 2555 or 2655, built by TYM. The Mahindra does not use DPF. They have a different technology that uses a diesel exhaust catalyst (like a catalytic converter in a car) and it does not need to do regen burns. Comparing the HST models, the Mahindra has slightly more PTO HP (RK is 42.2hp, Mahindra is 44.5hp) at engine speeds of 2800rpm for the Yanmar powered RK vs 2300rpm for the Mahindra. The Mahindra loader can lift 3122 lbs to 115" compared to the RK's 2478 lbs to 109", both measured at the pins. 3 point hitch capacity is exactly the same since both are the same TYM tractor. The Mahindra comes standard with one rear remote (up to 3 available) but the RK has two standard. The Mahindra will have a better network of actual tractor dealers that service tractors and should be similar in price point. The negative on Mahindra is 7 year powertrain vs RK's 8 year but that won't matter at all if you can't find an RK store with qualified mechanics to service warranty issues.

Tractor nh,
You neglected to mention just how much MORE expensive the mahindra is VS the RK 55. RK has MORE Standard features and implements such as loader are MUCH. more reasonable $$$$ from RK.

Basic spec, mihindra vs RK. 55 hp, cab, loader, HST transmission, RK has more features, loaded tires etc...

RK. List $ 29,990.
Mahindra List $ 47,950.

Numbers speak for themselves

Would like to witness the mihindra w/ 3000 lbs on the forks at full height. Even if it were possible, tractor would tip over if driven. The deere 5125R I drive during hay season can be unsteady at that weight and height.

And the ages proven Yanmar power plant vs. The mahindra engine. Something to be said for world renound reputation. Mihindra has a track record of TYM and Mitsubishi perhaps others, building their tractors. Kinda tells a story.

And as far as warranty work, RK has service centers at every store that sells tractors. I think it's at 40 now and in a year or two will be at all of their over 100 stores. How many Mahindra dealerships are there? Not sure. Mahindra is a good tractor, well built. Almost bought one until I discovered Rural King was selling tractors now. I ended up buying a 55 hp (44.0 hp pto - shuttle) for less than Mahindra's 4500 series, 45 hp tractors, with less standard features. RK tractors have almost no options because all are included as standard. Which doesn't mean you can't add some things. I'm planning on adding an additional remote for the FEL (read grapple bucket). I've had mine for 9 months (76 hours) and love it! It's a beast!

Appreciate everyone's comments, great to share information and perspective. Yes, the RK55 uses a DPF, which is predominant in 25 to 74 gross engine HP tractors. The EPA established emissions standards in HP slots; 24 and below, 25 to 74, 75 to 175, etc. We don't get into discussing competitor's products other than price, but love to talk about our tractors. The RK55H Cab is fully loaded, and so are the rear tires (RimGuard), as are all 37 and 55HP tractors sold with a loader. Yanmar four cylinder diesel engine, two sets of remotes standard, draft control standard, stall guard, HST sensitivity, cruise control, standard. 8-year powertrain warranty, parts & labor included, no deductible.

$29,998 is the price, same price, every day, every location. No assembly or inbound freight charges, ever. The Mahindra 2555 HST Cab lists for $45,350, but each dealer will end up selling it at different prices. None will get close to $29.9k though. If you want an RK BH8.5 backhoe with 18" bucket and mechanical thumb; $5,999. The Mahindra 65B backhoe with 18" bucket and mechanical thumb is $11,630 list. 3rd function kit? RK - $750. Mahindra - $1,302 list. Second set of remores? Included with RK, $565 list with Mahindra.

Add all that up and the RK55HC with loader, RimGuard, 2 sets of remotes, backhoe with 18" bucket with mechanical thumb, and 3rd function valve kit sells for $36,757, and the Mahindra 2555 HST Cab with loader, backhoe, 2 sets of rear remotes and 3rd function valve lists for $58,847. Again, each dealer will reduce that Mahindra list price, but not close to the $22k gap between RK selling price and Mahindra list price.

We are able to offer these prices for a couple of very simple reasons. One, we buy our tractors from TYM built to our specifications and brand, and then sell direct to the tractor buyer. Mahindra USA buys the 2555 from TYM in their specifications and brand, and then sell to Mahindra dealers, who in turn sell to the tractor buyers. Secondly, we are Rural King, and we have built our business since 1960 by offering lower prices on the things that farmers and rural lifestylers use for their work and to support their lifestyle.

With respect to service, we hired a leader that spent 25 years with John Deere and Lexis dealership groups, and he is building a parts & service infrastructure that will support our customers as well as anyone can. We have mobile techs with fully equipped service trucks to supplement our store shops and techs. We have nearly 2M sq/ft of distribution center space, and run our own truck fleet. We run trucks to our stores seven days a week. No tractor dealer is even open on a Sunday, and most are only open for a half day on Saturday, if at all.

Yes, we are proud of our tractors and our company. We are doing things in a very different way, and yes, it is sometimes hard to convince people that our tractors are as good as anyone else's, especially when the prices are so low. Fortunately, the word is getting out, and our biggest challenge at the moment is getting enough tractors to meet demand.

majorwager - The Mahindra list prices mean nothing since they often sell for far below the list. Example, my 2655 HST Cab with loader and RimGuard was just over $35k delivered which is still more than RK but RK doesn't exist in New England.

RK Tractor Guy - another point that can be construed from what I am saying is that the RK tractors are the same quality as the comparable Mahindra since they are essentially the same tractor with a different engine. It's also hard to dispute the quality of the TYM products when they offer 6 year (TYM), 7 year (Mahindra), and 8 year (RK) warranties. I don't think any of the three companies could offer that long of a warranty on a less than good product. There may be some that are gun-shy about a "store" taking on a tractor line after so many were left high and dry on warranty issues after the Cabella's fiasco. Unfortunately for RK THAT is going to be the biggest challenge...overcoming what Cabella's did to their customers, granted Cabella's really had no place in the tractor business as a sporting goods store.

Not all have DPF. Mahindra doesn't and I know Massey is going with Shibaura for their next version of the 1700 premium tractors - well at least the 1760m anyway - because they also are not using DPF.

So there is an option to have a 3rd function installed, but will it be installed at the stores or would it have to be factory installed?
