I just received an e-mail from Country Home Products that their 3-point hitch chipper is on sale for $1799 with free shipping.

I recently purchased a DR 3 point chipper for use with my BX 1800. I've used it for about 7 hours and cannot believe how well it works. It will only chip up to about 4.5 inches but that really is most of what I have. If it is larger than 4.5 inches it should become firewood.

How many horses does the bx1800 have? My JD 4110 has 17hp. The DR site says that 19hp is the minimum.

The horsepower rating of the BX 1800 is 18 but it handles the chipper very well. The only time I've had it bog down was when chiipnig small strigy stuff that clogs it. I've put 4.5 inch material thru it and had nice 1/2 chips come out without bogging the tractor. I really think that the diesel engines have much more power at the same HP rating than a tractor with a gas engine.

I have had nothing but great experiences with the folks at DR. Its great to call them and always get someone who really knows what they are talking about. I have no doubt that DR builds a chipper that will last.

I don't have any experience with the DR chipper, but several people on TBN have purchased chippers from Country Home Products, and I think the overall experience has been very good. Here is a lengthy discussion by patrickg about his purchase of a gas-powered DR chipper. I think they are the same unit, except for the power source.

That is the gross HP, The PTO rating is about 14hp correct? You are not concerned about this?

The DR 3ph Chipper looks small compared to most chippers. Did I just look at it wrong or am I right. Is it weaker than most because of this? Have heard good things about DR stuff but just wondering.
