Does the plow have any kind of gauge wheels you can set?

Postion control will give you constant height, but you lose any response to what you hit the in ground, making it easier to break something.

We are just in the early stage of food plot preparation. I am trying to coordinate the operation. Only equipment so far is ATV mounted fertilizer spreader and sprayer, ATV disc and lime spreader. We don't have tractor or implements yet. Just trying to get ducks lined up before I sell the whole package to the membership of hunting club. Do they sell chisel plows with guage wheels to limit depth??

Odds are pretty good that either a local farmer or equipment dealer would know what you need to get the job done with your local soil types. If you're thinking of getting something from a dealer, maybe they could come out and either make a presentation to the club or demo their stuff on the food plots to be. Heck, get enough demo's and you won't need to buy anything! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

How big are these plots going to be and how will you get the machinery to them?

How much land does the club own? My IWLA chapter has 120 acres that we manage for timber and game.

We're nearly ready to plant our first 2 plots which are 1 acre each. They are easily accesssible by old logging roads. Want to put in buckwheat this weekend if weather cooperates since still some discing to do before that. No farmers remaining in area. Have all sold out to developers. We're lucky to have about 350 acres to hunt/manage. The majority of it abuts state game lands which is a mixed blessing. It protects that perimeter from development. But it does expose us to hunters from gamelands that "get lost" on our property. That is despite blaze yellow trespass signs every 50 yards. Our next phase will require clearcutting selected areas since the property is heavily wooded. Unfortunately, the trees are not the marketable varieties where they pay you to harvest. The 2 acres we've prepared is the limit of what we can do by ATV. We really need tractor and goodies to expand plots.

Yep, atleast the larger ones have em. If you can't find one with em they shouldnt be too hard to make, if you want that option.
