I never thought of hooking the bed springs up to a boom and a pivot point. I usually go through a set of springs every couple of years due them getting hung up on something and damaging them. I usually hook a chain at each corner and take off. I will have to experiment with the boom idea. I do shorten the chain up on one side or the other and that changes the way the dirt moves. I also flip the springs over because one side is more aggressive than the other.

Tried chain link fencing, thought I was going to die.

I has some newly plowed ground, and it had uprooted grass and a few sapling roots. After pulling it a few hundred feet, it looked like I was dragging a hay stack back there. It was so tangled, I just dropped it off on the burn pile, fencing and all.

All seriousness aside, chain link will work on gravel if weighted enough and there are is no grass or roots.
