Does anyone here use it???

I hate their commercial, way to long, on at least once an hour, if not more, & on every channel that I watch.

My two hands don't work together very good anymore. Way too much time is spent re typing things. :confused3:

Thanks for posting. The system is now reduced 40%, and I am hoping this thread has some informative replies.

For the price, I don't see how you could go wrong. As with many other software products, it's important that you can take those Dragon files and put them into a MS Word or other word processor. If you are very good at grammar and punctuation, you may not need the aid of a grammar/spelling checker, but most of us would surely find the extra help necessary for a polished document. I know nothing of Dragon, but I'd look at all similar products on the market before buying. However, it won't cost you your life savings to buy a copy and give it a try.

They sure are spending a lot of money on commercials. I'm reminded of WordPerfect a few years ago. They advertised heavily and sold their products at cost so they could penetrate and control the market. They were successful and it took Microsoft many years to break their hold on the market.

Dragon is advertising like crazy but most people don't realize that Windows 7 and Windows 8 have voice recognition built in. It's in the Control Panel...Ease of Access section. You might want to try that first. Dragon might have a better product than Microsoft, but maybe not.

I don't see it doing anything at all for people who can type reasonably well. Just listen to the advertisement when they say such as "hold that", Underline, etc. You can type it faster. As for the Texan with his long technical word? It has to be added into the dictionary first in his voice before it can be recognized.

I worked in a Sheriff's department back when voice recognition first showed up. Several deputies worked with it to do their reports. Didn't take them long to realize that they could type it up faster. None were using it after the first couple months.

Yes, it would be useful for people who are unable to type at reasonable rate (anything over 30wpm) or disabled.

You can tell it is going nowhere fast. Look at how fast and far the discounted rate has fallen since introduction. I'll bet you can pick it up for a song on ebay from people who tried it.

Voice recognition / dictation software works reasonably well on my Droid for texting. It occasionally needs an edit, but I do find it helpful. I imagine Apple I phones have something similar, as well.

I use the built in voice recognition to text on my Android. But it is not perfect. It is also drive by an engine from Nuance. The same people who make Dragon. All voice recognition has gotten better through the years, but it is a long way from perfect.. Of course compared to typing it all sucks big-time. I can out type any voice recognition system with a heck of a lot more accuracy with going back to edit all the time. But if you cannot type, or type slowly, it might be beneficial.

Well, if he wasn't trying to prove a point and just said Super Glue, Dragon would probably recognize that without any issues.
