Draining water filled tires....rust?

if ya lived in Michigan, then trying to gain a bit more perspective of what you have to deal with were you are at now...

spring, major snow melt, and walking on gravel drive even. and you leave a foot print, and any mud / lawn = wet pancake batter that kinda fills itself in as you step away? does this more describe what you have?

though for you instead of spring snow melt i am guessing "high water table times of the year" no clue when that is for you.

or is the wetness of the ground worst that what i am thinking?

It's different. I was try to think earlier how to explain it. It's more of after the frost has gone and muddy.
But see...the soil is different. ...we don't have soil......lol. (and me and wife "thought" we had to deal with sand up there...lol) but it's sand. But not just "clean" sand. See...the grasses down here have root system that spread instead of going down into soil. (It is a bit** to dig threw the grass....nothing like bluegrass)

It's so hard to explain...it took me 4-5 yrs to get used to it.

It's dry right now and I used tractor with filled tires for first time. Ran across yard once to see. So far...so good!
I did notice in my shallow dried up pond today that it did cause "actual ruts" much faster. (But of course it would....it's heavier...lol)

But...everyone saying how it causes a rougher ride? (At least I read most say)
NOT FOR ME!!!!! Could be because of softer ground.....BUT that was the FIRST thing I noticed.....my tractor had a BETTER...yes better ride!!! So much nicer now! Maybe to being the jd 2320 is lighter than most??? Don't know.....but ran the same PSI as before. (Made sure to check before letting air out this morning) but I don't get thrown around as much.
Very nice!!!

Its the oxygen that causes rust (iron oxide) it can be the 20% in the normal air in the tire of some which is dissolved in the water. Once the available oxygen is used up, there will be no more rust until you add more air or water. In other words, don't keep adjusting your tire pressure.....

Gotcha....makes sense. ...thanks

Haven't touched them since I filled them. So far.....I haven't seen much "rutting" in yard and the tractor feels like it should have came with the weight.
I was worried because all that I've read where people said it caused a rougher ride.....not here....better ride In fact.

After about 40 -45 years, a rusted out rim around the valve hole happens. Tire guy will pump fluid into your barrel where it will sit a few days while machine shop will put a patch in rim & drill a new hole for valve stem. You then smooth it up with grinder and/or wire brush; paint with rust-o-lium . Mount tire, pump calcium back in & you're good for another 40 years. Of course about every 10 you will need a new valve core as soon as you see a little moisture around the valve. I thought all tractors had calcium cloride solution - then one day I saw one with air-filled tires! A 4440 and it couldn't hold back a silage wagon going down hill. Scary sight as it jacknifed down the lane. Rusted rims kind of go with the territory.

that's why companies make tubes.... rubber don't rust...

Absolutely. No idea why this is such a big deal on TBN. I have had water in my TUBES for thirty years and the only problem I had was the front left had a slow leak for a year. Should have patched it- yes- but has no one here ever been a little lazy? That rim did rust and was repaired via welding and re-drilling the valve hole. As far as one guy commenting that he likes tubeless for ease of repair via a tire plug. Sorry, but I refuse to use plugs as they always fail at the worst possible time. Imagine running along a road with a high crown with your bucket full of gravel. Bang! Front right plug gives way and tractor tips.

never had a plug to fail if done right besides all it would do is let the air out, no bang or blow out

I've used plugs for years. If one fails the air will slowly leak out. Stick another plug in it and move on. They will not blow.
If the tire blows you had other tire problems than a leaking plug.
