I had to make a clevis type add on to my tractor's drawbar to pull a bush hog mower with. As I was welding it up I thought that it might be a handy idea to add a couple of weld on grab hooks.

It is alot heavier than it looks. The steel is 3 pieces of 1" x 3" flat stock overall length 16".

hi GeneD14,
great idea but one thing prevented me from welding a clevis hook to my drawbar. when backing up the chain would seem to slide out of the clevis hook. too much dismounting the tractor to reconnect the chain for me. my solution to help prevent this was to use 3 or 4 links of chain and a clevis hook pinned into the drawbar. by having the clevis hooks slot opening geometry variable to pull direction I have to dismount the tractor to disconnect the chain.
awesome drawbar!

Thanks for the idea. So far I have had good luck, the chain seems to stay on. I have the hooks angled up slightly so gravity helps keep them on. If I used it backing over heavy brush or real bumpy ground I would definitely want to capture ther chain better.
