Don't beat yourself up to bad about not using a pin to hold the bolt in place, I don't either (although I AM contemplating changing that practice after reading your post!!!!!!). Always seemed that gravity was enough to keep the bolt in place........

I reccomend removing the draw bar when brush hogging. My pin clip went away while brushing, and I can't use the draw bar with the brusher on. Good luck finding the bar. I'd try the metal detector suggestion.

Way too much area to cover and besides a drawbar is cheaper than a metal detector, or I'll own a medal detector.

If you want, I'll take some measurements of my b7500 drawbar so you can make a replacement.

I bought a cheap kids' metal detector at Radio Shaft for under $15.00 several years ago. It looks exactly like this one at the amazing toy store for $25.00. It has more than payed for itself. It will find small nails and screws under an inch of dirt and larger stuff with ease. I used it to find some cocking handles for my mole traps that I lost in the lawn. I'm sure it could find a draw bar if you went over it.

My time is more valuable than the draw bar. The iron ore in the hills around here causes metal dectors to go crazy, just like slag does.

If it were me, I'd tell my two kids they'd each get $10.00 to spend any way they wish if they found it for me. It's a win, win.......I'd find my draw bar and it would keep the kids out of my hair for a good bit while I got some chores done./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Now if I had kids I wouldn't pay them to work : ) I'd have to cut a willow switch if I didn't do what my parents told me to.
My how times have changed.

If the kids were responsible for losing the draw bar I would agree entirely. In that case, making them look for it until they found it would be a good lesson to be more careful next time. However, in this case it was the parents fault that the draw bar was lost. It is the parents responsibility to either recover or replace the draw bar. If I as the parent don't think it's worth my time and effort to walk the fields in search of the bar I would have trouble making the case that it's worth their time either. Having the kids HELP you find it is one thing, telling them it's their responsibility to find it while you go on with other things is another./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well put /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

My kids have chores that have to be done because it is their responsibility. But sending them on a treasure hunt with a $$ reward sounds like great fun! Heck, if they spent a few days looking and didn't find it, I'd probably reward them anyway /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
