Guys! Don't get me wrong on this. I am not in favor of government regulations, and I prefer to live my own life on the risky side. If my personal choice is to enjoy life's experiences unemcumbered by things such as ROPS, helmets, and seatbelts then that's my own decision and nobody else's. To me, avoiding injury means being aware of the danger....not avoiding danger altogether. For some people, avoiding the danger is also avoiding the fun.

What I am saying is that the danger from pulling with a 3pt drawbar without a top link is hard to visualize until you put some time into thinking about the physics. And also when the rotation does happen, the speed is faster than most reaction times.

Roger or any of the other tow bar experts. I'm wanting to put a tow bar under my F16D. It has a large flat spot on the bottom of the tranny right under the PTO about 5"x12" with 4 bolt holes pre-tapped I'm assuming this is for the draw bar? My other question is how far out should it come past the tires? It has to come past the tires for turning allowance of the trailer right but how far is safe?.....Thanks for any help.

I suppose I should have mentioned, the drawbar/bumper/chainbox system on my 240D is fully mounted to the 3 point hitch system.
It can still come up fast on you in a sidden stop if you don't pay attention to what you are doing. The same situation can develope is you are using a boom pole, or box blade to skid logs.
SAFETY is in the hands of the operator, not the machine.

Here's a good way to fabricate a combo trailer ball and drawbar hitch. Dennis made this one to fit his machine. I'd post mine, but his looks better !
