Just some info for you, you can clear the cel codes with a basic hand held obd ll scanner. It will not tell you the codes but will at least clear them.

How does that help the OP? It's not like clearing them tells him anything useful. Can the dealer retrieve them after their cleared?

Glad to hear you can get it done locally. Yeah, they have taken tractors from very simple to bogged down with massive control systems that serve the EPA's agenda and dealer parts and service departments to no consumer's benefit. All the pre-Tier 4 final tractors were snapped up before the new ones rolled out, due to no-one wanting to deal with the potential issues on the horizon.
Kioti will get your's fixed, it may take persistence on your part to get it done in a timely manner. Hopefully not. :confused3:

I'm sure they can figure it out.

I did this the first time around. I want the codes there so that the dealer can see what is wrong with it.

Codes cannot be found once they are cleared.

Ok, I wasn’t sure if you knew you could at least clear them or not, I too would not do it again with out retrieving the codes.

My point, exactly! That's why I asked. (I was out of the car business before code readers were common).

Yesterday i was out using the tractor. It was running great until I parked it. The motor went from 1600 rpm's to an idle all by itself. Previously I had this similar problem where the tractor would do this. I was able to still run the tractor up to 2000 rpm's before the engine light would come on. That all went away after checking all the wires and cleaning the front 02 sensor in the cat converter. Back then I had just over 300 hours on the tractor. I now have 345 and it is back again but worse this time. Now I can only get the motor up to 1600 rpm's before the CEL come son and the rpm's drop to an idle. I ran the regen cycle and nothing changed. One thing that I did notice is that the regen light does not come on during the regen cycle. Is this normal? The motor runs at 2500 rpm's during regen with no issues. I positively know that the problem is not fuel related. It is raining here today so I won't be able to do any checking on the problem. What a PITA these Gen 4 tractors can be. One thing I have to admit is that I do not miss the smell of diesel exhaust fumes.

Didn't I suggest checking the alternator? I had the same problem, it was the alternator failing. If it turns out to be the alternator with failing diodes, Kioti wants something like $350 for their alternator. I have some lower price alternatives.

If it's the OP's alternator, the repair is FREE. He's under warranty. You really ought to consider reading the thread(s) prior to jumping into the discussion.:confused2:

Hi Eric, I do remember your posting on the alternator. Mine is putting out 14.2 full voltage and my battery is fully charged. I did check that the last time this happened. Thanks for the links for a replacement. I do believe that it would be covered under warranty.

How long have you had the tractor now, I can’t remember when you bought it. I did run across your other thread you started about this issue the first time it happened, after reading through it it explained a lot more of what issues your having.

I bought my tractor back in Sept. 2016.

The tractor got dropped off yesterday morning for repairs to fix the "who knows whats wrong with it" issue. Friday night while loading it on a trailer I noticed that if I took my foot off the brake the engine revved up to 1600 rpm's. I put my foot on the brake and sure enough, it dropped back down to an idle. The throttle lever was partially forward when this happened and the CEL light was on. Normally the CEL light would come on and the motor would drop to an idle and the light would go off. I showed this to the mechanic and he was surprised and had never seen anything like that before. "A note on regen's." I mentioned the regen cycle to him. He stated that if the tractor is run at a higher rpm that the regen light should never come on. I told him that mine had only come on once since I bought the tractor. I told him that I normally run between 1600 and 2200 when using the tractor except when using my chipper or mowers at PTO rpm's. He said that is fine. He said that these tractors are made to run at higher rpm's to keep the exhaust clean and that I never should run it at slow rpm's. Now the waiting starts for the problem to be solved so that I can haul in some trees while the ground is frozen. The dealer was really nice and his son had just come back from Kioti training.

Hope you get good news soon. Mine did the same thing as yours is doing now, CEL and 1600 rpm, it was bad injectors. There are something like a dozen or codes that will trigger the high idle though, But if I remember correctly they all have to do with fuel deliver.

I hope they get to it in the near future. If it was fuel injectors why would it run on regen at 2500 rpm's? I'm thinking more like something electrical like the ECM or possibly the injector pump which is controlled by the ECM. It also could be a bad throttle switch. Regen bypasses that item.

Mine ran fine even at high rpm with the CEL on, it just wanted to idle at 1600 but would drop to a normal idle when you applied the brakes.

Mine will idle fine with the throttle closed. I just happened to have it up a bit to see if it would go over 1100 rpm's which was the highest it would go to as of a week ago. The tractor would never go over an idle with the CEL on. This was a first for me. Since this started the tractor would automatically drop to an idle anytime the CEL came on. This is what happens when you add tons of electronics and emission controls to vehicles. Hopefully it is an easy fix. With only 345 hours on it there shouldn't be anything going wrong with a machine like this.

I agree , more than likely something simple. Hopefully they get it going pretty quick for you.

I hope the fix is fast but I am in no hurry. There is no snow forecast for anytime soon.

My local dealer found that my "hand lever accelerator" was faulty. He called Kioti about it and they agreed to cover the cost of the part under warranty. My 2 year general parts warranty had expired in September. I have to eat the diagnostic work and labor to replace it. The part is just under $500.00. The part should be in this week.
