Another thing, you can put a mid PTO kit on the 2555, I am running a 78" front blower on mine. The 2555 is a little easier to maneuver due to it being slight smaller/less weight. The cab is nice in the winter...... but I am an open station guy at heart.

The open station is far easier to get on and off. I love the idea of a cab in the winter. We have a lot of winter. We had a snow storm a little south of us that I believe I could have made a lot of money at if I could have gotten there. Enough snow that I would have had to drive the tractor 15 miles to get to the city as too many vehicles were stuck in the road. This does not happen often though. If I was younger and not going soft I still could have driven the 15 miles but I also have 15 back. Not happening.

I was in the same boat on wanting to upgrade to a 2555, only I hit that point at about 40hrs in. I then went and looked at the 2555, I really like the tractor, to me its just a bit big for getting around things that I want to do. Doesnt help I would lose my butt on my 2538 if I traded it in. When you consider the $7,000+ price increase I have toyed with putting that towards getting a skid steer to go with my 2538, better loader and even more maneuverable but yet have the 2538 for the pto and 3pt work.

Then add in the 8k going from open station to cab for me. Tough for me to say it but I could get a tractor too large to do lawns and driveways with. Ever see a Mahindra with duals all around? :)

That would make it even tougher to decide for me, $15000 would go a long ways on another toy.....I mean tool. I love the way my 2538 handles and gets in small areas, just wish the loader would do a little more. On the other side a 2555 would be a pain to get in woods that were just being cleaned up instead of cleared off, but you can lift twice as much. I have made a mess in my own yard when the ground was a little soft, I can imagine what another 1,000lbs would add to that. Like I have read many times there is no perfect tractor, guess thats a good reason to buy more than one. It would be neat to see duals on a Mahindra, or even those over inflated looking tires on the tree trimming trucks, the ones that look like you could drive on water with.

I have now added duals to my dream. Pretty sure I need a set

So hows the dream coming? I keep thinking along the lines of trading to a 2555 when I go to do something but I manage to get it done with my 2538. It may be a little slower, but I still get it done with it.

Why stop there? I think you should start thinking of a D8 or something along those lines. I'm sure someone out there is making cats with cabs.

Here ya go, thisun has a cab. 29c36549d0a263cc7979850758c11cd2.jpg

Very reason I do not venture into the wood on a tractor without a hard hat with face shield. Theoretically, I should not be going out there w/o some type of heavy duty rops to ward off the 4" branch that just fell 50' from above. I think it would have killed me if it landed on the noggin directly. 39 years in the woods with a small tractor.... I was due.
