Dredging up old post's

Do we have a clear policy on reviving old threads? I ask because some boards I frequent discourage people from starting a new thread if the issue has been discussed in an old thread.
I don't see the harm either way.
The only time it becomes a nuisance is if someone revives a 5 year old "Help Me Please" thread and we all rush to the rescue like fools who don't notice dates' :) But then again, that's probably how the thread got revived in the first place.
"I have met the enemy and he is us" Pogo
Me neither.

Right now there is a response to a seven year old thread in the photo forum. The member who revived the thread is asking if the same plow is still for sale seven years later. The member may well be aware that the thread is seven years old, but then again he might not be. A little blurb may have saved them a little time. Then again who knows maybe that plow is still for sale.:D

Personally I don't mind a thread resurrected, That DONOTDELETE guy is pretty knowlegeable:rolleyes:

I don't see where starting a new thread is better than adding to an old one?

I agree Brownie but does what we think really matter to the "moderators"!!!:)----those with the gold make the rules------

The moderators don't have the authority to implement this so it doesn't matter what we think of the idea. -------A penny saved, is a penny earned.-------A fool and his money are soon parted.-------A rolling stone gathers no moss.----------Two heads are better than one.-------All that glitters is not gold-----A fool and his money are soon parted.

No, there is no policy. The TBN culture until about 2004 was old threads were not revived. Some people open old threads by accident while others make a habit of it. I suggest people who are bothered by TBNers who do this to put such people on your ignore list.

Good answer! That should work.
On one board I used to frequent a few years back reviving old threads was considered sport by some. A source of great amusement while victims of the ruse would rush to solve 5 year old problems. I was amused at first because anything can be funny once, but if you try to make every day April fools day, it's just annoying.

On the + side, it can be educational to consider new solutions to an old problem.

A bird in the hand is worth two paper towels to clean up the mess. :)
