Neat drill, really neat tractor. Love that old stuff.

Here's what I use to drill oats--an old Minneapolis Moline P3-6 drill (10 ft wide, 20 hoes, single disc openers) that I restored and my 2008 Mahindra 5525

Well we have two of those IH 510 drills and back in the day we pulled two with a double drill hitch behind a JD 4430. Here is what we use today, but like I said the tractor was down for a few days so we had to resort back to the old way just to keep moving (corn harvest is just around the corner) Keep an eye out for a new thread or subscribe to my youtube channel I will have a video up of this rig in action. BTW nice pics of an old drill. We have several steel wheeled Van Brunts that could be fixed up and running again.

I like those chains on the back of that drill to drag over the seed bed. Might have to install something like that myself.

Here is the 1948 Dempster Seed Drill I use for planting wheat (and beans). It does 7 inch rows - 9ft across. I'm pulling it with my 63 MF 35.

yeah its weird not to see press wheels. I cannot imagine doing 1000's of acres with those drills

When you said "old school" I thought you were talking hand sowing. I once saw my grandfather hand sow a small field when I was a little boy. He did a remarkably even job. I have tried it a few times with grass seed on my lawn, with considerably worse results.

Hey, that's a really nice rig.

My MF is a 1964 MF135 diesel deluxe with multipower. I'd pull my drill with it except I haven't added rear hydraulic remotes to the 135 yet. That job is on the to-do list.

Press wheels? Drag chains? I don't think it makes that much difference. Here's what my 2009-10 Kanota oats look like after planting with that MM drill
