Drive across this country

I have only exaggerated slightly.

If at all.:D My parents lived in Anchorage for 6 years ('65 to '71) and both of my brothers lived up there for 20 and 25 years. There's some other weird things to me. Until my parents moved up there in '65, they had no air-conditioning in their home or business, and rarely used the air-conditioner in the car. My Dad hated Winter in Oklahoma and Texas; just did not like cold weather. Then they moved to Anchorage in October '65 and they both loved it. Dad bought a boat for fishing and a Weasel for hunting, even going out and staying in a tent in the Winter.

My brothers both had snowmobiles. The younger of the two even raced professionally for several years, accumulating a room full of trophies. And now . . . he hates weather colder than 70 degrees. He'll play golf in 60 degree weather wearing long johns when I'm in a short sleeved shirt.

Moss - just sent you a PM (I'm free Wednesday) I'll pay for 1/2 your dinner. I work in Andover (1 mile from that interchange).

This place is thick with tractor nuts! :)

Drove to Alaska in '68; great trip and plan to do it again in 2008.

In '93, I drove across the country from Oregon to the east coast, Wash. DC, up to Vermont & back. Another great trip. Noticed that corn is grown in every state and that you can always find a Chinese restaurant, even in a town of 2,000 in the middle of Nebraska.

Before we left home in '93, my wife went to buy traveler's checks at a bank in Clackamas, Oregon, which is about 20 miles from the Columbia River which separates Oregon & Washington state. The little gal selling her the traveler's checks said, "I've never been out of Oregon!"

Don't be like that little gal in Clackamas. Get out and see this country!

In 2006 we drove from Indiana to Wyoming and Montana and back. Yesterday I drove from Indiana to Mass. I continue to be amazed by this country and all of the different things you can see in such a short time. The fall colors were at or just past peak in Ohio, Penn., and western N.Y. The drive down I 90 down the hill between Penn and N.Y. was beautiful with the orchards, vinyards and lake Erie in the distance. The only bad part was that since D.S.T. ended Sunday morning, it started getting dark on me about 4:30 in eastern N.Y and I couldn't see any more.

If you ever get the chance, take a drive and soak it all in. We are very fortunate to live here. :)

Odd, I did Mass, CT, NY, PA, OH, IN, IL, IA
IL, IN, OH, PA, NY, CT, MA just last week too - via I-80, prefer it to I-90.

Also did the Mass, Vermont, Los Angeles, Mass trip last year
and have done the Mass, Wyoming, Vermont, Mass loop.
Several trips from Mass to Lancaster PA, the Virginias & back.
All with the 40ft horse trailer following me around (-:

Well, I drove back yesterday. Got to see what I missed in Mass and Eastern N.Y. Very pretty scenery. Lots of colors in the Berkshires area. And the Friendly Ice Cream living sign was cool! Lots of water foul around the area of the Eire Canal where the locks are, especially west of lock 15. :)
