Drivers have no respect for tractors

/ Drivers have no respect for tractors #11
I have been driving tractors on the road for about 55 years now, and I have always tried to yield to traffic. I follow the Washington State law that says one cannot hold up more than 4 cars on the highway, before having to pull over and let them by. I think all states should have that law.

I'd rather not play chicken with a vehicle going 3-4 times faster than I am, and don't want to find out what it's like to get bumped in the rear.

Just my opinion and how I operate. All don't operate that way, for various and insundry reasons. Some are even good ones. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I worked for a Deere dealer this was the way I was told to drive the combines and large 500 hp tractors down the highway. I always take up the whole lane like I am driving a car so no one passes. I also refrain from waving cars on to pass me even if the coast is clear to avoid liability for an accident.

I have had a few close calls on my tractor since it is just barely able to cross a busy highway I need to cross and have almost got t boned twice by cars. I do wear my seat belt on the road so I don't get ejected if the machine rolls.
