After a year of procrastinating I'm going to push some dirt around tomorrow. I'll hop on a 3040 and a 3840, both w/new style FEL.

I'll be dragging a 72" bush hog up and down hills in real life. Will I need or enjoy the extra hp of the 3840?

I'll be an early adopter here in western MD.

Where is the Montana dealer in your area?

Outside of Hagerstown MD. He also is showing some tractors south of Waynesboro PA, just over the MD line. He's had the dealership since 2004.

Thanks, I travel through there all the time from the Somerset PA area. Could you be a little more specific on the "outside" Hagerstown & provide the name of the dealer.

Thanks for the info. I'll stop by there on a trip real soon. I'm hoping he has one of the new T serries on the lot.

If you have a 72" with a slip clutch you will appreciate the 3840 much more on the hills and in heavy brush. That 8 extra hp is a whole lot more.

Have fun.

Thanks Maka,

I'm waffling between models.

Just a quick report:

I pushed dirt around for an hour or so yesterday. I was darn comfortable in the seat with the exception of reaching for the 2wd/4wd lever. I was too lazy to adjust the seat position. All the controls were very intuitive.

The tractor had lots of torque, compared to my old MF-165(gas) . The thing handled like a sports car compared to the old tractor as well.

The dealer is including chain hooks for the bucket and a mounting step for the platform. I've opted to get the Montana 72" bush hog and blade. I've decided against a 3 pt quick hitch.

I'll be able to (Montana) finance all or part of the package and pay it off early without penalty if i should choose.

So, there you have it. Gave a deposit for the 3040. I suspect he'll allow me to move up if I should change my mind tomorrow. <g>

Ok..It is final. A bit more negotiating and it's a done deal.
