There is a post on TBN called "Driveway Fixer". The thing is easy to make and works great. Mine keeps getting better.

I added a 3pt hookup so I can pick it up with the 3pt Speeco. (?? Search for Speeco) Now I can pull it with a chain, or use it like a 10' blade using the 3pt. It makes the smoothest road when pulled with a chain. When using a chain, I can also back up and lift it with the speeco for transport. No getting off the tractor.

The night before my seven trucks of recycled concrete topping came I made removeable 4" screed shoes for it. They bolt to the ends and are shown in the photo. The shoes hold the cutting edge 4" above the road bed. To use them you really need the fixer attached to the 3pt. When a truck would dump I would back up over the pile, lower the fixer, and drive forward. With a few passes I had a nice very flat 4" thick layer of material. The truck drivers said they had never seen gravel spread so evenly and so quickly, and suggested a patent.

Hope this helps y'all. It works far better than a blade for smoothing.

Very nice piece of work, now how about some drive photos also. It never ceases to amaze me the talent that is on this board as to creating and manufacturing items that are functional and built well

Good job.

Great pics!

I have thought about trying to build something like that. I would like to use I beam (easier for me to find). And I would like to make it so I could adjust the angles of both beams--so I could use it similar to a rear blade to move material to the left/right.

Thanks for the pic of the great tool.

To find Chim's original driveway fixer look at web page

The RR rail is difficult to weld but it is hard and resists wear. Also, it is cheap and the weight is advantage.

Look at Chim's photo. The thing works that well. Unlike a blade, with this thing you can bounce all over as you go through ruts but the drag stays level.

If you make one of the pull chains shorter than the other it will drag at an angle and move material to the center.

It is also fast to build. I would bet lots of money I could make one of these way faster than a blade could be made. You could even make one out of I beam with only a flame saw and bolts.
