I have 17 lights along my driveway that I would like to remove and replace with new lights. Does anyone know of some plans or designs that I could use so I can build them myself? I would prefer to use wood but I don't know where to get the internals. I'm thinking of a bollard design using 120v.

Have you looked into low voltage? They are pretty easy to retrofit into just about anything that already exists. If you are building new, they should work fine as well.

Many lighting manufacturers make an enclosed and gasketed globe fixture that would work well for a bollard application. You could build a wooden base and then mount this on top of it. I have seen some of the globes sandblasted on the inside to diffuse the light.

Do you guys plow snow? I would like driveway lights but around here they would not last into late fall before they got in the way of the snowplow.

If you do a search at woodmagazine.com, you will come up with the issue that has some really nice louvered driveway/walkway lights. I am very respectful of electricity - if 12V instead of 120V will do it - less chance of a very unpleasant surprise over time.
