Driveway Markers

Interesting concept, BigDave, but I wouldn't have any luck trying it so I'll stick to my t-posts painted orange (to match the tractor) and reflective tape. That lets me know where to go.

My next door neighbor had her mother staying for the week. When she saw us plowing our shared road, she said to her daughter "I thought you said the neighbors didn't have any kids." Her daughter replied "they don't," and took a look out the window. She saw my wife sliding around in the snow about 20 feet in front of me and laughed her head off. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

We've only been married for 6 years, but she's an awfully good sport. I didn't even ask her to do this, I guess she saw a divet or two, and just started marking the roadway.

Sorry Frank,

She's all mine. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif She's from NY, (Sullivan Co.) and she knows better than to get any where near Buffalo in the winter. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Anyway, I don't think she's tall enough for a really bad snow near Buffalo. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

BUFFALO NY AIN'T SO BAD/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif we ain't had a bad snow in the last week/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif but it does make for a lot of seat time /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I don't bother using them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
That way I can empress the neighbors when I show them how I can get "myself out of the ditch by using my FEL"

15 minutes to plow snow and 30 minutes to extract myself from the ditch

no snow here, but I use 2" sched. 40 pvc pipe with some 3M reflective tape strips wrapped around the top. I also use some pvc caps at the tops. Cheap and easy to replace if necessary.

I tried the round reflector on a plastic stick thing, but the dogs mistook them for popsicles so they didn't last long. Then I tried the fiberglass rods with tape on top. They worked, but about that time I noticed natural markers that worked even better, i.e., back up in a straight line from the house toward the trunk of the mountain ash till you're abreast of the garage, then right 15 degrees rudder and aim for the oak marks the outline of my driveway. Besides, they don't make those rods tall enough for the snowload around here!

PETE: JUST TRIED YOUR METHOD. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif tried backing up to ash(don't have one) so used the willow tree, then lined up with garage and did 15 deg. right rudder, so i am now sittiing in the middle of the woods but at least i can SEE the house./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif sorry could not resist/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
