Anyone using and satisfied with an electronic driveway monitor on thier property? I'm about 800' off the main road need some recomendations.

I have a Mighty Mule detector that is buried beside the driveway and transmits to the receiver in the house. It detects moving metal and ignores everything else. If someone drives past it real slow it won't be set off, but it's been dependable for many years now. I also have 2 receivers on the same channel (one detector) since we spend a fair amount of time in both buildings. Not sure of the range but I think it's in the neighborhood of 150' but it can reach farther.

I have the same setup about 300 feet distance and its about 90 percent successful. It also tends to give false positives with passing school busses and some farm equipment. It can miss small and fast moving vehicles in my driveway.

Ive tried cameras and IR motion sensors which I found to produce a lot of false positives. I would try using a light beam and reflector next about 3 feet off the ground.

Im guessing a buried closed loop detector would be the most reliable but the most expensive solution. If you have power available at your entrance Id recommend a ground loop and a license plate camera with external IR illuminator. Put an S-bend in your driveway to force cars to slow down or a gate arm with a delayed opening timer.

I had a couple that didn't work and now have a Mule which does work well.

I also have the Mule with the buried sensor next to the drive and it is about 350' from the house, have had it in about 9 or 10 years now. My house is metal roofed and metal sided and it still gets the signal good inside. Very few false alarms as it detects metal only and batteries (AA) last over a year in the sender. Not sure what causes the few false alarms, maybe just sunspots or something ? Only get 1 or 2 a year usually but mostly at night and you get up to see who's coming. Maybe a deer with a bullet stuck in it somewhere ….

I have a Sure Aaction (Small US Company) , buried probe, directional setup. But it has wires going to it. Wireless versions available too. There is a lightning probe that cancels out lightning induced triggering.

For better security you rally want a secondary system that detects people, but then you are back to the wildlife triggering issue.

We have a Dakota Alert Murs system with (2) buried probes that is about 2400' from the house... it has been working very reliably for at least the past 4yrs we've had it. We have (2) probe because I first though we were getting false alarms as it would sometimes chime & then chime again.... I realized it could be a vehicle that entered the drive & then turned around so I added the second probe about 500' farther up. Now we receive the first notification & then the second signaling they are continuing up the drive. If they turn around prior to probe (2) we get a notification from probe (1) again... I Know it sounds complex but it has made knowing when some has continued up drive much easier...

I can't vouch for it yet but this coming week I'm hoping to get our new Solar Powered Cell Camera installed at the lower part of the driveway.... My company just became dealers for them & we have a policy of we won't sell it until we test it (/ break it) in-house, so we ordered 4 of them for testing. I'm installing one & (3) of the other guys are installing them in different locations... From what I've seen so far looks to be a unique security camera solution... Hoping its as good as it specs...

Self powered solar, included cellular Sim, the free plan includes up to 100 free images per month sent directly to your phone... We have customers that this would be super beneficial to (even with the cost of the paid plans that include some AI features).... so we are hoping that they are as good as they sound... I got to get it installed this coming week....

V2 | VOSKER | Mobile Security Cameras

They also have the more affordable & none solar powered unit...

V1 | VOSKER | Mobile Security Cameras

Again I can NOT vouch for them yet but thought I'd share the links in you like to look in to them for yourself...
