RM43 is just glyphosate (roundup) with a little dash of imazapyr. Which works as a pre-emergent.Sounds like the backpack sprayer needs seals kit- it’s a 5 minute repair
We use RM43 and it kills everything for a year
43% GLY
0.78% imazapyr
If you are using very little per year....RM43 is okay. But if you use it ALOT.....ita actually alot cheaper to buy those two chemicals separately.
RM43 cost ~$60/gallon.
You can buy 2.5gal of generic Glyphosate for about the same. And imazapyr 53% can be bought for ~$1.50/ounce
Take 1 ounce of 53% imazapyr and mid with 1 gallon of Glyphosate concentrate and you just made RM43 for about half the cost.
The catch is you have to buy a quart of imazapyr. So enough to make 32 gallons of RM43 concentrate. So again....small quantities isnt really worth it. But if you are spraying several gallons of the stuff every year....its worth a look. OR......if you just want to use it as a preventative....IE you dont have any green vegetation showing....you are wasting time and money spraying glyphosate.
Side note.....The mojave 70eg that was mentioned earlier....is a mix of imazapyr and diuron. Diuron is another fairly power pre-emergent that complements the imazapyr very well. And the two of them together in mojave 70eg work alot better than RM43
