Driving in a snow storm

Those are much more peaceful than the near 20mph ride I took over a hill during the storm yesterday..... in reverse..... with 53' o trailer behind me. Or would that be in front of me?

Note to self: "Self won't be putting self in that position EVER again." Cotton goods are too expensive.

But at least you survived the ride... and Tide does wonders in a Maytag.

I'm happier the vehicle survived the ride.

Not good when you have time to think about things like tossing it in neutral so you have one less thing to worry about dragging tires, unlocking the PDL trying to get less wheels to lock..... Listening to the air alarm going off because you've been battling for that long and you're still not at the bottom.....

First time after 16 years of driving in all weather, we stop for nothing, I have carried chains, second time I have used them. Seriously considering taking them back out because they appear, to me, to be like putting bigger tires on a 4x4. They simply allow you to get into bigger trouble.

I guess I need to mount the on the dash. Muted audio, of course.

Works just jim dandy on my phone now! Thanks. Looks like half the drivers in the UP were on the highway.

Nice vid, but you about scared the poop out of this old southern boy.. We don't drive that fast on snowy roads.. Course I realize you guys drive all the time on snowy roads, and it is a 1 or 2 times a year thing for us.. But y'all act like the snow is not even there, we just kinda granny along. Some people worse than others, but when somebody whizzes by at 55 we usually scream some unkind thing their general direction

I have dedicated winter (Blizzak) tires on the car which make a huge difference, and you are right we are used to it. In the last 30 hours we have had 34" of snow, so I was driving slower in the deep snow as we went to a hockey game.

If I'm in 4WD, 35 MPH is about my limit...more for the purpose (and hazards) of stopping then going.

With 34"...well...my saying has always been:
"I bought 4 Wheel Drive vehicles to make sure I get home...not to get anywhere else..."

Blizzaks are some of the best winter tires I've used on my vehicles and are the only winter tire I'll mount on my mother's car. I don't use them on my own because I found I tend to push the lateral dry grip potential on the Blizzaks too much(had a number of close calls). First set of winters I put on my WRX were the same tires the State Police used at the time, they worked exceptionally well. 2nd set is different but they also have proved good.

If you have real winter weather to contend with and a place to store them out of season, a set of dedicated winter tires on their own wheels is an excellent investment.
