"Drought" in upstate NY

The Pageant of steam is 8/10-13 in Canandaigua. With the "No Rain" most of the Summer we'll probably have a mud fest to make up for it during the show. That's the way my luck usually runs. Of course in 2001 the dust was so deep you couldn't even see your shoes.

I would love to get some more rain... There is a 60ish percent chance for the 12th and the 13th. Time will tell if it happens, or if they push it out again.

If I was in your shoes I would try to get that drilled well up and running. At least see if you can use the water. If not you're gonna probably have to truck it in.

That's what we did. We have an old drilled well, that has a VERY slow recovery. After about 50 gallons it is dry, wait a few hours you have another 50 gallons. We use it to water the garden and livestock. Just pump it out and wait, repeat as necessary. It would not and did not cut it for the house, but for a supplemental well it is fine.

I was surprised when I went to Utica, NY recently to see that the grass there was mostly green. I'm still waiting for more than a few drops of rain. It is nice having to mow every 5-6 days though.

Oneida seems to be the line. East of it has rain, West of it is a desert. The weather guessers are predicting rain and some big storms starting tomorrow night. We can really use the rain.

I just commented to a friend of mine yesterday that the bottom foot and a half of all the local corn stalks are brown. Gonna be a bad year for all crops if we don't get some more rain. The only good thing is I only have to mow the lawn about every two weeks or so.

Every two weeks? We last mowed in mid July
Its been raining (or at least sprinkling) around here some this last week, so the lawn is greening up (the weeds are green anyway) and its time to mow again.

8/16/16;raining right now in Northern NY,too little too late for our food plots.Pity the farmers in the area,I am just feeding the wildlife.
